Jason Linkins has a pretty nice lefty summary of the events in Wisconsin in the intro to his column today

(As an aside, over the past year or so Linkins' column has completely eliminated my need to A. watch the Sunday shows or B. read Frank Rich or whoever is speaking the Left's talking points. One stop shopping!)

So the Unions are offering an 8% pay cut for Walker to quit this union busting measure. 8% is fairly large.

I wouldn't take credit for Worker's Comp if I were a Union

This is an example of the American mind-fuck disease.

For many years workers in factories would be injuried because of work-conditions and fired summarily. No compensation for putting their bodies at risk. (At one point in the 80's I worked with many undocumented workers who, given their status, could not claim worker's compensation... hands cut off, backs broken from falls, lung disease from chemicals... fired, lost income, with not a penny... i.e. just like all workers before the 1940s). But "litigation" and "lawyers" have become the enemies of "real Americans"... unless they are arguing conservative causes (Bush v Gore, Citizens United). Working people seeking compensation for injuries are somehow "scandalous" while spreadsheet-oligarchs destroying economies with greedy and dangerous speculative financial practices get a pass.

Unions (collective bargaining and labor law) should take great pride in figuring out that damaging bodies for a lifetime purely for higher percentages of profit for a very few needs some oversight.

I should have been clearer. It read differently than I intended. In this day and age, workers would probably do better without worker's comp. In that they would get more money (at least here). In today's litigation, companies save A TON OF MONEY with worker's comp.

Has nothing to do with politics. I know the historical evolution of worker's comp better than you.

<----Spends a fair amount of his time arguing that an employee is "an employee" and not something else to limit their recovery where they only get worker's comp benefits, which are remarkably less .

Wow. Governor Walker pranked by liberal blog host, pretending to be one of the moneybags Koch brothers. Whole thing is recorded.

Hoooly shit. This is kinda nuts to listen to. He is... as bad as I pictured.

He has zero interest in negotiating. None. And is trying to trick the Dems into coming back into the state under a false-ish pretense of "talking," so they can call session and make them vote.

Not only that, but he won't talk to the elected Democrats in the legislature, but a (fake) big donor from out of state can get him on the phone no problem.

story on the prank call to Gov Walker. In my head, his fake Koch sounds like Bloor doing HST

I don't know how this guy kept it together after he told the staffer his maid threw his phone in the washing machine, and he had her deported, but more power to him.

Current agenda item for every Governor's weekly meeting this week:

I. Confirming identity of calls to Governor

A. Donors

1. Encoded cell phone?
2. Secret password?
3. New legislation?

B. Constituents/Press
1. BAHAHAHAHAHA

I like this guy, from what I remember he was pretty proactive and stand-up.

Linkage

Quote:
Madison police chief asks Walker to explain 'troubling' statements

Madison Police Chief Noble Wray Thursday asked Gov. Scott Walker to explain his "troubling" and "unsettling" statements captured in a secretly recorded phone conversation that he "thought about" planting troublemakers among the thousands of peaceful demonstrators at the Capitol.

...

"I find it very unsettling and troubling that anyone would consider creating safety risks for our citizens and law enforcement officers. Our department works hard dialoging with those who are exercising their First Amendment right, those from both sides of the issue, to make sure we are doing everything we can to ensure they can demonstrate safely."

wish upon a star folks.
blog. chat. tick-talk. you've already excluded yourself from the real discussion.
politicians are gonna shit on everyone publicly.
wooptie fucking doo.
it's all a "show" that everyone feels some connection to without really understanding anything.
I don't think most people really know what the fuck is going on besides the rabble rabble rabble.
I don't. And I don't care.

That's the voting record in regards to governor. You got what you voted for.

That so far, in regards to popular media coverage, this has been a one sided dramaticized spectacle without any detailed specifics or explanation?
"bargaining agreements...loud...yelling...arggh. ..collective...fhla.."
//pan to crowds.
//cut to yelling policticians.

None of this really matters.
Look at that map.
When the people actually had a voice, they blew it.
Hating Obama didn't have much to do with anything but racist trends at the time
But their drinking buddies were comforting; and their diminutive wives, such.
Now they're feeling the washout.

I'd like to know how many of those fucks protesting voted for that guy.
And I want to know the percentage of idle UW students with no connection to anything make up that "impressive" crowd (can't blame them for getting in the rabble).
In any case, they's best pack up and go home. Media won't stay around forever.

It'll all go away while you're paying attention to an internet cat video in a week or so.
Remember when Wal-Mart employees tried to legitimately unionize nationally a couple years ago -- for the second or third time? No? Michael Jackson died. You remember that.

It's because you're buying what they're selling.
You don't know what's really going on.
I don't know what's going ion.

I wonder how many benefit concerts full of shitty jam bands and white dudes with dread locks are dropping on Madison this weekend. Lotsa socialist speaking fucks surely gonna get fucked. More so than usual. ::wink wink: Praise Jah!

Let's speculate angrily.
Bring on the anecdotes.
Go pack.
Play good defense. The unions didn't.
Just another news snippet you'll forget about.
Don't worry about it.
