Oh God...my college radio station had me playing that.

Actually, they had me playing a lot of shit I didn't want to play.

Not the most horrendous thing in the world, but I'm a sucker for big band samples. "City Zen" from that record is also decent.

she also had a hit with "stay" from the reality bites soundtrack.

now there's a movie that i thought was terrible and i just couldn't get into, but the soundtrack was incredible. well, maybe not incredible, but it was damn good.

Fuck, that's what I meant. 'I Do' was hardly a hit. Maybe. I don't know.

But yeah, Stay is what she's known for.

Also, I love Better Than Ezra. Still.

Most of you probably remember:

Goldfinger "Here In My Bedroom"
Heather Nova "Walk This World"
Buck-O-Nine "My Town"
Lo-Fidelity All-Stars feat. Pigeonhead "Battle Flag"
Owsley "I'm Alright"

But do you remember:

Polara "Source Of Light"
Schtum "Skydiver"
Dub Stars "Dim"
Embrace "All You Good Good People"
Mr. Mirainga "Burnin' Rubber"
Smackmelon "Space Shot"
Stakka Bo "Here We Go"
Throneberry "Touched"
Nick Heyward "Kite"

I've got their Trot Out The Encores album. Haven't listened to it in ages. I remember they reminded me of a more mellow Afghan Whigs and that I really liked about half of the album. Gonna have to play that thing today, methinks.

That's the only song of theirs I know, but it also reminds me of Afghan Whigs.

Thought of another one:

Komeda "Boogie Woogie/Rock'n'Roll"

All of those songs I either heard on WHFS 99.1 (Washington, DC), WBCN 104.1 (Boston), or WFNX 101.7 (Boston). Commercials stations all.

also on the mix will be

oasis
bloodhound gang
nada surf

and more, some mentioned in this thread, others i can't remember at the moment.

Had I made a mix before going to Mexico in June '97, all of this would have been on it.

Also, saw the second and fourth on New Rock Fest 97.

Familiar with his Haircut 100 stuff, but not the solo music.

Got more. Again these are songs where, to my recollection, I only ever heard one track by this artist on the radio:

Lit - My Own Worst Enemy (someone probably already posted this, but this thread is 7 pages long)
Papa Vegas - Bombshell
Chumbawamba - Tubthumping
Stroke 9 - Little Black Backpack
Citizen King - Better Days
Dovetail Joint - Level On The Inside
Kottonmouth Kings - Dog's Life
Marvelous 3 - Freak of the Week
Jump Little Children - Cathedrals
Space Monkeys - Sugar Cane

Sugar Cane was a pretty fun song. That whole Marvelous 3 album is fucking great actually. I still listen to it fairly often.
