So I have tickets to see Wilco at the Ryman in Nashville this sunday, but so far haven't purchased my plane ticket, since I wasn't sure if the wife was going to come with me... Today I found out that I will be flying alone, and was shocked to see that tickets from my hometown -> nashville are over $650! WTF?

Plane tix from Detroit (8 hour drive on a good traffic day) are $130, but I can't find anywhere nearer that offer much of a discount. Am I fucked, or what?

Do I take the assraping and hope for a bump coupon? Do I drive from here to Nashville instead (15 hour drive)?

why did you even buy tickets for a show fifteen hours away without knowing for sure if your wife could go? (i presume you got 2 tickets.) the furthest i've ever driven for a show was 10 hours one way and i was with two other people, and spent the weekend in the city. not bad, definitely an experience. but i'd find a good friend and drive it.

I bought two concert tickets, for me and my brother who lives in Nashville. Tried to get four, but was lucky to get the two I have. My wife wasn't interested in the concert anyway, but was looking forward to visiting with my bro and his family, and doing some big-city shopping. Airline tickets are usually in the 200-300 range, but I usually get them much sooner than this, also.

I would be tempted to drive, but my car isn't running very well of late, and I can't afford to take two extra days off for travel.

Heard someone bust out "the hiv" yesterday. As in, "maybe it's not dry skin - maybe you have the hiv."

Probably just wants to have something in common with you - something to say. He's reaching out to you. Take his hand, cats.

i was just in a meeting where a woman's blackberry buzzed on the table. a woman sitting across from her said, "please put your vibrator away." hilarity ensued.
