For the life of me, I can't see how they're going to bring the whole series to an acceptable resolution with the limited time they have. Shame on HBO for cutting the season to 10. I'm enjoying the hell out of this season but I don't think they should have included the paper stuff. Just focus on catching/killing Marlo and I would be happy.

I still love this show, but this season has turned into The Shield.

Yeah, if I ever decide to go Roman Polanski (without the sodomizing of preteens) and live in France, maybe I can make my epic film of the same name.

I gotta say that last night's episode, while still better than anything else on TV, was a bit of a disappointment. There just wasn't enough going on.

The next one isn't much better. McNulty directs it though.

You're serious? I'm loving this.
Of course, that could just be the paper geek in me. I've been in those "marching orders" meetings - back in 2000 we had a 6 yr old shoot and kill a girl in his classroom. It's a little sick, but handling that stuff is pure adrenaline.

I mean, it's not awful. The media side of things is getting a little more interesting but like Fu said, it's turning into The Shield.

Ahhh, I'm not hip to The Shield so this is still pretty new to me.

For the record, I like The Shield, too, but for pretty much the exact opposite reasons I like The Wire.

This is kinda long (to be honest, I actually read it in the magazine) but I think that this essay by David Simon from the new Esquire more clearly illustrates where he was trying to go with the newspaper angle.

A Newspaper Can't Love You Back

Omar or Marlo in the Antilles.

I think Omar's in Puerto Rico. (Considering he been arrested on a bunch of shit, and Joe asked Marlo about getting a passport)

for the record, omar was in la perla in puerto rico. it's where you go for drugs in san juan. it's a fascinating area of the city.
