I'm not saying it's rational or even close to be right. That's why I called it "hang-up."

Wherever there's a hang-up, you'll find a Spider-Man! (One who drinks a lot of beer):

Went to a cask and cod festival at a local brewery this weekend. They had about half a dozen cask beers on tap and were doing fried fish to go with it. I like the one called English Brown Ale best of the four I tried.

I've got all these in my fridge and haven't had any of them before. I've heard good things about all -- they're constantly tempting me but it'll be until later in the week before I have time to try any.

The St. Bernardus is one of my favorites of all-time. A truly great beer.

I find the Stone pretty weak... though many people love it.

This year's Choklat is very chocolaty and I don't think near as good as last year, while the Unearthly is one of the best IPAs out there.

Abt 12... well, that's above criticism. One of the best ever.

Man, maybe I just had a flakey bottle, but I seriously don't get it. I don't understand why so many people consider this one of the greatest beers ever made. Perhaps the style isn't particularly my thing, but even then, it seems decent at best -- I like the Aventinus better for a beer in a similar style.

Is that worth the price? I want it but it's like $17 for a four pack which I have a hard time justifying.

it's good. it's lasted me a while. high alcohol, meaning you'll drink less unless you want to barf your brains out.
i actually don't think that it's in my fridge anymore. some friends built a 5 man beer bong that looks like a gimp octopus, and i think we may have used the last olde school in that.

dogfish is my favorite brewery. i think they've brewed some really interesting beers, and i really hope some new ones will come to richmond soon.

definitely try their 20% beers. they're pretty thick and taste crazy, but it's worth it even at their high price.

have you tried midas touch? it's probably my favorite. it tastes fucking amazing, it's decently priced (probably 12.99 for a 4 pack) and it's got a relatively high alcohol percentage.

have you and sara gone to once upon a vine in forest hill? it's an incredible place. they have an amazing beer selection, and on sundays if you make your own 6 pack it's 10% off. not much, but still worth it. i think a lot of beers are cheaper than they are at ellwoods or other grocery stores, too.

Not 21 yet but I've heard that they have a really good selection...I heard that the one on Northside (MacArthur Ave) is even better. Whole Foods in Short Pump has a surprisingly good selection though. Look at the Facebook Ratebeer app to see what I've tried lately.

Also, I agree about Dogfish, but their Shelter Pale Ale sucks. I'm still pissed I spent $10 on a six-pack of it.

Ah.. BillyG's post is so true...

and, despite a 12er of miscellaneous other beers, I've had three of these tonight...

Feel free to make fun of my outdated hard-drive, phone, inability to turn any picture upright, IKEA furniture, or what-have-you as you will.. It's Blackthorn Dry Hard Cider, Either way, and I'll be drinking/procuring more tomorrow....Image

Just picked up a 6 pack of this last night.
The liquor store I hit had a pretty limited import selection.
But I saw this close to the counter and snagged one.

drank some of that last night. it was pretty fucking good.

i'd never had a white ale before, to my knowledge. it had a distinct taste so i'm sure i'd know.

the bartender was a prick. i asked him what bottles they had, and he just shrugged, so i first ordered two newcastles just because that's all i knew they had. then i asked him how the white ale was and he said "it tastes like a white ale, i don't know"

i don't know why i tipped him. because i'm nice. but he didn't really deserve it.

This was absurdly good:

This was pretty bad, especially for the price:
