I should re-phrase that...I don't just like this album because it's Spoon, I like it because I think the writing is interesting and I like how the album sounds.

...Your'e lame.

not as into it immediately as I was with their past 3 albums. listened all the way through three times now and am liking it better, so we'll see.

You're consistent use of that emoticon is probably your worst trait.

See, I liked the album and it's $16 for the CD and $21 for the vinyl.

How many times you gonna jump into this thread to insist that the album sucks, Dalen?

OK, I finally managed to listen all the way through. Wasn't blown away, though it might have potential as a grower. Nowhere near as negative a first listen as I had to KTM, which is now among my favorite Spoon albums, so it at least has a chance.

All that being said, hard to muster up much more than a meh right now.

Well stated FT. As a fan of all things Spoon myself, I have not been able to warm up to this one. I've given it several listens and not much really stands out. They usually have a killer Track 1, but it starts off slow and never gains any momentum.

It took some time to click, it's not as good as other Spoon albums, but I still like it just fine. Maybe an 8/10, where GaGa was a 9.3. It's not a fucking masterpiece, but so what, that's their problem. Britt's a standoffish douche, Jim's indifferent, so whatever.

I mean, you'd have to be an idiot at this point to be both listening to and liking Spoon and not expect exactly something like this. Tone, detail, spare sonic vocab, Britt vox.

It seems like we've had this same fucking discussion over every Spoon album since KTM. Both Gimme Fiction and Ga 5 got the same shit from the exact same people. I don't care if you like this album or not, but if you don't like Spoon in the first place then what the fuck are you even complaining about?

Track 1 is the track that's grown on me the most over these first number of listens. Definitely up to their usual standards. And if you agree with FT, you've got some problems you should deal with STAT.

Oh look, KPH

Also, the last three songs on the album are very very solid - "Out Go the Lights," "Got Nuffin" and "Nobody Gets Me But You." The rhythm section especially shines on these three.
