My Hometown is on fire this morning

NORFOLK, Neb. -- A large swath of Norfolk is being evacuated after a fire broke out around 7 a.m. at a dairy plant.

Flames were visible for several miles outside of town.

As many as 8,000 people were evacuated, the Norfolk Daily News reported.

Firefighters initially ordered a half-mile evacuation around the Protient plant, including businesses along Omaha Avenue and the Victorian Inn west of the plant.

The radius of the evacuation then was expanded to one mile.

Emergency officials were going door-to-door to make sure everyone is evacuated.

Norfolk City Administrator Al Roder said that at 8:45 a.m., the evacuation area had grown to the area to Norfolk Avenue on the north, Andy's Lake on the south, Victory Road on the east and 20th Street on the west.

"That constitutes, land-mass-wise, about a third of the city," Roder said.

Roder said it wasn't immediately clear what was burning, but the fire threatened a 30,000-gallon propane tank on the property.

Barricades were used to close off streets. The high school was ordered not to open.

Some people who had to leave their homes were going to the city auditorium, officials said.

School buses were being used to transport evacuees. The Norfolk Middle School was a secondary evacuation site.

Ten to 12 workers inside the plant also were reported evacuated.

A spokeswoman for the Norfolk Public Schools said some public schools have been evacuated, but she would not provide additional details.

Um, that is weird, wild stuff.

Hah, nice. I had a special certain album (white light white heat) that I used to roll up joints on back in my smoking days..I miss the little ritual things about smoking as much as I miss the smoking.

This was an interesting read about Loog's political stomping grounds. Joe Reed sounds like he's a Grade A douche bag who doesn't want to lose the power and prestige he has to new guard African American politicians. I could be flat out wrong, but that's the vibe I get from him after reading this piece.

I would recommend looking at everything in that article through the prism they want you to; they call Virginia a Border State. Journalism fact checking fail.

"Dick will make you slap somebody."

It's an old saying but still holds true. I remember my dear old gran (god rest her soul) often used that expression around the house. And even in the troubled times of our modern day, I think we can still take something important from it.

Blogger: Here are some videos I made a couple of years ago when I was working for this magazine called Flo. They made the rounds on Bridge 9 and a lot of other hardcore boards but I thought I'd post them all here just for shits and giggles. Apparently Roger Miret was not real happy about them because he thought we were making fun of Vinnie, but nothing could be farther from the truth. Vinnie is a hardcore legend, nice guy, and hilarious. These are tributes, not mockery. We love Vinnie, Agnostic Front and are grateful for all his contributions to music (such as arguably INVENTING hardcore).

FYI: This post is not a joke or sarcastic. I really did make these videos.

I met Brian, the guy who won Survivor Thailand, at a party last night...

He seems like a nice enough guy if a bit of a douche. Definitely one of the Top 5 best players ever.

So I did all my Christmas shopping today. About 6 hours criss crossing the city of Atlanta but I am fucking done.

Total tally:

3 different Malls visited
5 stores outside of Malls visited
17 drivers that I cursed the day they were born
8 children given the "stare of death"
4 various coffees or lattes consumed
1 pitcher of margaritas
2 mini fights with FemDerris from sheer stress
2 gifts purchased whose receiver will not appreciate the effort that went into getting said gift
2 hours it rained at the end of the day during the spree
1 beer I'm drinking right now at this computer.

Overall general mood in one picture:

Merry Fucking Christmas.

haha, Ben, I feel your pain. I didn't hit the mall today (although I needed to, but figured I'd put it off until mid-week during the daytime), but I did hit the stores near the mall. Pretty much done, but still want to check out a few other things later. Traffic wasn't terrible although I nearly went Rodan on a woman who INSISTED on pushing the men's sweaters on the circular round rack in my direction when I was clearly standing next to her looking at the same goddamned sweaters. I could have easily slapped her.

Oh man did I hate that guy. Wasn't he a porn star or something?

Also Derris I'm still laughing at your day and the "stare of death".

I think he did some soft core as well as some Soaps and an episode of Doogie Howser, MD.

He had also obviously had some botox.

Merry Fucking Christmas.

 Hope you got me in here, or it's 3

Also - way to fail. I did all my shopping sitting right here, hungover, with a baby on my lap.
