I think Konono No. 1 is probably the best of that whole Congotronics bunch, though. The first Congotronics has really held up, and the live album they put out a few years ago is great as well.

I don't have enormous expectations from them, though. They could keep churning out slight variations on the exact same thing, and at the rate of one proper album every five years, I don't think I'm going to get sick of it.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't like this. I can't think right now of what it's specifically reminding me of, but it's very familiar.

very good album -- not sure it's quite AOTY quality, but solid for sure.

here's a single from last year that's at least as good as anything on the album:

and their ep from 2008 as well:

Tame Impala are pretty good.

I haven't heard this new one yet though. They're definitely one of the brighter spots on the popular Australian music circuit at the moment.

Anyone have a link for the new Jakob Dylan record? His touring band is actually Neko Case's touring band (including Neko and Kelly Hogan).

indie pop trio from Austin, TX, i dig the attention to lyrics and melody. I'm not sure what to give you for a RIYL, maybe Will Sheff from Okkervil River, but with a happier childhood?

wow... that intro to promises was... not promising, then the strings and then the vocals, and it's scratching an itch.

Too bad they're not coming to texas on this tour.
