AJC reports:

Johnny Estrada traded to Diamondbacks for 2 pitchers, Lance Cormier and Oscar Villarreal.

I guess the Braves have faith in Brian McCann to start a whole year.

I think paying Furcal that much is LAUGHABLE. Dodgers fans I don't think you're getting as good of a player as you think you are. He is pretty good but he'll go in the tank for a couple of months of the season.

I agree. I think he's maybe worth like $8MM/year not $13MM. And even at that salary, I don't really understand why the dodgers would be that interested in him. I'd rather have Iztaurus than him at short. It looks like they are trying to trade for Soriano now so where does Iztaurus play when he comes back. It doesn't make much sense to me.

I know they need a leadoff hitter but its seems clear that they are going to trade Milton Bradley so they're going to need a new OF'er. Why not just get one that can lead-off?

Because we would have to trade for one of those...
As I eep saying, Izzy just had Tommy John Surgery, and is out until at least the All-Star break. Having him play 2B (he originally came up at that position) would help save some wear on his arm, and upgrades the defense A LOT - Kent ain't the most fluid fielder, espec. at age 39...

The Raffy signing isn't the end of the Dodgers offseason - I mean, with Colletti/Little in the fold, Mueller @ 3B for the next year or 2 while LaRoche develops is a done deal... Either Kent or Bradley have to go out of town...and reports have the Dodgers rumored as going after everyone from Abreu to Soriano...
Hopefully Kent goes bye-bye for a decent #4 (Can't believe Kent + bullpen arm for Benson + prospect(s) hasn't been brought up yet), Soriano comes into the fold, and Little can get another Fantasy team into the playoffs and beyond. Remember, he wouldn't have to play the Yanks until at least the World Series...

Current Dodgers Lineup (before trades):

SS Furcal
3B Mueller
CF Drew
1B (or 2B) Kent
RF Bradley
1B Hee Sop Choi / 2B A. Perez / 2B Izturis
LF Jason Werth / Jose Cruz Jr.
C Navarro

Current Dodgers Rotation:

Penny
Lowe
Od. Perez
D. Houlton
E. Jackson

With Broxton, Sanchez, and Brazoban leading up to Gagne in the bullpen

Needs a bit of refinement, but not a bad squad, if you ask me...

If Mazzone was still the pitching coach, I'd say this was a great trade for the Braves. But now, who knows?

The Padres have just made a couple of puzzling trades.

They traded Mark Loretta to the Red Sox for Doug Mirabelli. And Sean Burroughs to the Devil Rays for Dewon Brazelton. Very lopsided trades, IMO.

I think they're trying to free up salary to re-sign Trevor Hoffman. They may not be equal trades talent-wise, but it accomplishes that and gives them a catcher since I guess they are losing one via free agency?

I wonder if we're gonna bring back Eddie P. to back up or if they got something else up their sleeves?

Always like Estrada but he was real banged up last year and never really got it.

Welp, close the book on the Kevin Millwood trade.
And Sean Burroughs to the Devil Rays for Dewon Brazelton.
Considering they were going to trade Burroughs for a career .180 hitter last year it's not that

White Sox trade Damaso Marte for Rob Mackowiak. Freeing up money to sign Mike Myers as well. Awesome trade.

Baltimore Sun was reporting that the Orioles are impressed with Frank Thomas and are looking to offer an incentive-based contract.

Told you so. The don't want to fucking learn.

WHO THE FUCK APPROVED THIS TRADE? I mean, nobody....well everybody owns the Nats. How long is this going to go on?

Its baffling but then again--its baseball.

Overbay to Jays for David Bush, Gabe Gross, and minor-league southpaw Zach Jackson (the greatest name ever to be linked to the Brewers, by the by).

The Nationals rule, they beat the Cubs like 15 times. They were basically Cleveland from Major League, too.

Orioles picked up Ramon Hernandez...baring any unforseen physical findings.
