I just went and got the key to my "new" (READ: 1983) apartment during lunch. Not moving until Saturday, but took a few pics while I was there (mine is the first floor door on your right). Here's all 600 sq. ft. of what $527/mo. buys you in suburban Dallas. The actual location of the complex is outstanding, as it's across the street from a small (but gorgeous) lake and runs alongside a very nice greenbelt park with hike and bike trails. BUT the actual complex itself is very, um, 20th century barrio, with flourishes of inner-city ghetto. I didn’t take a pic of the view outside my patio, which faces the dilapidated ruins of what was once a tennis court in some ancient civilization.

Just remember, this does not have to turn out badly. Upon divorcing I immediately moved into an apartment I liked 100 times better than any I lived in while married and within a year and a half got a raise and bought a house that I totally dig. Now, a couple years later, I get to enjoy my friends more than ever, do what I want with who I want, and have gotten to meet a variety of women I never would have had the chance to meet otherwise. Embrace this opportunity, don't dread it. Calling divorce a curse is a sin.

saturday, i am picking up a used dinette and couch (both for free, condition unknown)

also, since i needed a computer, i was able to "finance" a new laptop through the bank of mexican junior (may take close to a year to pay off, but can't beat the APR)

yeah, right now the only down side (other than seeing my kids less, of course) is abject poverty

once the amount of child support is determined and locked in, i should be in better shape

plus, if/when any sort of raise/promotion happens, im'a make it rain all up in this beyotch

Yeah, I have to concur.
To get hardwood floors in Lincoln for that price, you need to rent an apartment in an antiquated building downtown that probably has lead paint walls and no A/C, that is located in a neighborhood known for having prostitutes and a bunch of mouth wash swilling bums.
I have gotten more floor space than you have for that price, but the inside of your place is certainly more presentable to single ladies.
The outside of your place certainly looks like mine, but I didn't see you take any photos of sketchy tweekers smoking cigarettes on the balconies or random little kids of various ethnicities running around all dirty and loud.
