I don't think anyone should feel bad for Sox fans.

Agreed but if anyone can commiserate today it's us.

Historic collapse for the Braves. Not that we were going anywhere anyway but still, glad they could twist the knife a little more by going to extras.

Bring me the head of Derek Lowe.

Guess I'm a Rays and Brewers fan now.

scapegoat.

come on...they lost 20 games in September.

yeah but it's just fitting that he's the one to blow the final chance.

this was just a month-long train wreck.

such a bizarre season

from starting 2-10 to going 7-20 in september, but somehow going 81-42 (.658) in between

No, that is not a typo. According to calculations made by noted statistician Nate Silver, the series of corners the Rays found themselves backed into made for the unlikeliest escape of all time. According to the bookofodds.com, any of the members were more likely to get struck by lightning (1 in 835,000), win a Powerball drawing (1 in 195,000,000) or die in a shark attack (1 in 250,800,000)

I never considered that I had a higher chance of winning a lottery that I don't play, than dying from a shark attack in waters which I will never venture into.

Does leaving Scott Proctor in for 2 innings factor into these findings?

well, there was a 1 in 278 million chance of the Yankees leaving Scott Proctor in for 2 2/3 innings.

That said, you can only complain about Proctor so much since the Redsox got a chance to beat up on him on Sunday.

Sounds about right. He's a legit big time Bravos fan.

FWIW, I did laugh through the tears this morning when the local sports talk station kept playing the sad R2D2 sound between calls.

Francona out apparently (Keith Law & Olbermann). Kiss of death after Epstein claimed Francona wouldn't be the scapegoat.

I think its a simplistic response to the situation to say he's being scapegoated. He just had his options coming due at a very bad time. Would anyone really expect that he'd have a two year option picked up after that collapse? That's not to say it's his fault primarily. I'd blame Epstein more but there wasn't an immediate decision due on an option for him.
