the one where busty sounds like he's swallowing the mic, and damn near blows out my speakers regardless of what volume i listen

although, the best part is always when you guys are cracking up in the background at his ridiculous take

levels in general are an ongoing issue (and really the ONLY "issue") with the podcasts (which are otherwise always enjoyable)

ol' GAR is always overmodulated, spiking the levels throughout, while bloor is usually at a much lower, harder-to-hear level

i'm constantly turning the volume up and down and up and down during every episode

but the content is great - no complaints there whatsoever

This is because we're doing it over TEH INNERNETS and my innernets sux0rz. Like, epically slow. We've lost shows and not been able to record shows because of it.

how can someone in your line of work have slow innerwebz???

isn't like 95% of what you do predicated on having fast, dependable online access?

We recorded a ton of liners and stuff that day, most of which were ruined by a too-hot mic and the fact that we were disgustingly hung over. I think we were laying in bed together.

As for the inbalances in volume, I do tend to mix Dave too high because when I don't, I get emails from his wife complaining that he isn't loud enough. Ive been meaning to get another compressor to smooth things out, but just haven't gotten around to it.

I just meant the triple repeated mic-clipping death metal take. The laughing is good but you know. I don't look forward to it. The sound bites and music are all very well done, actually, the general length and flow of it shows a lot of good taste / skill. Were it mine to do, I'd probably try to have as "normal" a voice into as possible for "you're listening to the Vesco Island Podcast." Like someone saying it clearly, but not too seriously or slowly. And if I couldn't get a take I liked, who knows, I would keep trying other shit I guess.

Although, imagining myself in their place, I'd probably take "backseat engineering" over "no one's listening / cares." I suspect, anyway.

Listened in--thanks for the shout out haha. Yail, yr voice kinda sounds like mine. Caught me off-guard. Not sure what qualities, but reminded me of listening to myself doing radio--cannot explain.

Also, as mentioned on twitter--you have a slight Baltimore "o" thing going on.

I did mention in the last episode that I am making a new intro soon/probably retiring "Rebels" etc.

Its really just a matter of doing it: I wish I had all the time in the world to make high quality production stuff because I genuinely enjoy doing it, but you know, there's life and shit.

Yeah, this is a problem. Can't you bribe someone to get more bandwidth?

(Ep 32) Will Johnson makes me look like Kareem Abdul Jabbar... awesome.

The improv-ed Hold Steady song you guys came up with that directly references listening to Japandroids is, without question, the single greatest moment in Vesco Island history.

We are the rare team that does so much better with no prep and no script.

"Kyle == Ian MacKaye." LOL!!!! So far, so good, gents. Sorry for your collective loss.

EDIT(s):
Despite our face time, Kyle and I have never discussed Simpsons. We need to rectify that. (Cletus: "Hey, what's goin' on on this side?")
