I recommend "Botched". There's probably a reason you have never heard about it, but it's definitely entertaining. Stephen Dorff is in it.. well shot and good acting. Story falls apart towards the end, but it's good stuff.

"Richie Donovan is a professional thief whose luck has just run out. The only survivor from a heist that goes terribly wrong, Richie is forced to take the blame and is sent to Russia to steal a priceless antique cross locked in a safe on the penthouse floor of a Moscow skyscraper. Things start badly and go rapidly downhill when, during the robbery, Richie and his Russian accomplices are forced to take hostages because they are trapped by the police on the unused 13th floor.

The working title for this film was 13."

Saw "The Strangers" last weekend and pretty much agree with Dov's thoughts. My advice: wait for DVD.

The Strangers just looks really, really stupid to me. Haven't seen it, obviously, and have vowed not to. OMG LOOK AT THE CRAZY MASK AND THE AXE. Honestly, an axe has to be the least believable horror weapon of all time, but I will make an exception for The Shining here.

This is probably my favorite thread in this forum.

Anywhooo, I just saw "The Ruins".

I can at least say that it was much better than I thought it would be.
I had to turn my head for one scene and I hardly ever do this.

Hmmm....
I'm wondering how much of the hand held camera work will be going on during this. I loved Cloverfield, but I don't ever want to see another movie with a hand held camera telling the story.

yeah the ruins wasn't too bad. i was kind of bummed that it wasn't exactly like the book but it was better than most of the crap that's billed as horror these days.

the camerawork in [rec] is not as shaky as cloverfield or blair witch project but if you don't like that stuff, this isn't going to change your mind. i think i like it the most of those types of movies.

Has anyone seen Severance yet?
This is in my instant browser netflix queue.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before.
Too lazy to skim through all the pages.

I'm trying to save all my annual horror movie watching for October.

Planning on watching:

Friday The 13th (Boxset) - I can't help it. Guilty pleasure.
American Werewolf In London
Prince Of Darkness
Children Of The Corn
Halloween I/II
Amityville Horror (orig.)
Night Of The Living Dead (orig. or remake) - I love them both.
Exorcist (this is a maybe)
The Shining
Aliens
The Ring
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
Re-Animator
The Howling
The Birds
The Hills Have Eyes (remake)
28 Days/Weeks
Audition
Invasion Of The Body Snatches (Donald Sutherland)

So many others.

I watched a doc. on The Thing and then decided to watch the movie the other day. I love October.

i've got that friday the 13th boxset too, though i heard they're coming out with another one that'll include all the films. i also heard it may have the uncut versions of the films but as it's paramount, i doubt it.

you should add inside and frontier(s) to that list.

Man, my friend and I couldn't stop laughing the first time we saw the trailer for that. What a dumb fucking movie title.

I have not seen a really good horror movie since the Descent and that is only quasi-horror, if you ask me. I should queue some up in my netflix.

give this one a shit...

yeah, the title reaks of Gay porn-isms
but the flick was actually pretty good...

only problem I had with it, was that the lead guy was the asshole fiance to rachel mcadams in wedding crashers...so i had trouble taking him seriously....

i liked midnight meat train though it got a bit goofy at the end. i didn't even mind some of the gore being cgi because it looked so stylized.

and bradley cooper was in one of my favorite stella shorts.

I watched "The Poughkeepsie Tapes" and "S&Man" yesterday.

I'm glad I saw "TPT" in the comfort of my bedroom because if I'd seen all the camera jostling on the big screen, I might've thrown up. I've heard comparisons to Blair Witch Project, but this was worse in my opinion because some parts of it are just SO fucked up and uncomfortable.

"S&Man" (pronounced Sandman - not S and M Man - that's just stupid according to the dude who produces the series) was pretty interesting. Guy's doing a documentary which is part fake, but mostly real, about the part of the horror industry that does special order movies based on your fantasy/fetish. There are also some experts thrown in to talk about why we like horror films and what keeps us watching. Lots of talk of voyeurism, naturally. Not the best doc ever, but recommended nonetheless.

Oh, and I watched "Let The Right One In" on Saturday. Fucking awesome miniature hipster boy gets picked on and picked on and picked on until one of the best endings to a vampire movie I've ever seen. HIGHLY recommend this one.

What was so interesting for me in my experience of this film was that it moved so slowly for most of the film and then that final sequence was just fucking awesome. Talk about a climax.

you people should check out eden lake. it's fucked up.

also, they're re-releasing my bloody valentine on dvd tomorrow with almost 9 minutes worth gore put back in.

they're also releasing an uncut version of friday the 13th next month. they're releasing parts 2 & 3 but they're just the regular versions, though 3 comes with 3D glasses and the option to watch it in 3D.
