or a slightly softer Iron and Wine - Woman King
I would say it's more intimate than American Analog Set.

It's definitely a grower, but doesn't have that standout track that usually makes me want to put a disc in. It's a disc that sets the mood for mellow.

I'll probably give it another try. Some really good songs on it but overall, I found it boring.

Yeah, it never rises above "nice", and mostly stays grounded in "dull".

it's towards the end of my list. can't quite delete it yet, but can't bring myself to look into even a used copy for purchase either.

No but I never gave it much of a chance. I love Terry Callier though so there's a chance that on its on merits it could make the bottom of the list. I like just about every other Terry Callier album a lot more than it though so I didn't really see how I'd ever choose to listen to it over the others to give it many listens. He's a victim of his own success in that regard for me kind of like newish Neil Young, Bob Dylan, or Van Morrison. After a point, you just don't need more.

Although I don't think it will be my number 1, this album has really grown on me.

Yeah, on first listen, I kind of discarded it as nothing great. After a few listens, it hit me hard. That and the Bibio album are kicking my ass right now.

listening to this right now...maybe my 3rd or 4th spin. i'm kinda disappointed with it after loving civilians. there just seems to be a huge lull in the middle that really drags for me.

I'm not ready to call it a disappointment yet but I agree there's a lull in the middle.

I thought about updating mine but I only have one thing to add:

which i like a lot.

i don't dislike it, by any means. maybe disappointed is the wrong choice of words. i just really liked civilians. this one seems to be more of a mood record. i'll keep listening for sure, it's just that my mind starts to wander in the middle until "stars" hits -- which is such an awesome song it makes me wish everything else was up to that standard.

I had it at 4 on my list right behind son volt last time i made a list. It certainly has room to grow on me as most of his albums do. I just agree that there's a bit of a lull in the middle.
