I really love this record right now. I'm too lazy to search for a link, but check it out here.

The album referenced:
Tera Malos - Patagonian Rats

Interesting. On first listen I definitely hear a modern indie-prog band also influenced by 90s Dischord acts plus indie-rock bands like Built to Spill, Shellac, Weezer, etc

yeah sorry, could have mentioned the title and everything. irritating enough that the cover says "happy", without any relation to the title.
true, it has something from the 90s, but the overall sound is fresh and keeps me interested. I can listen to that 3 times in a row.

He's playing here too and I've been on the fence about going. I like him, but not sure if it's worth going out on a work night.

Either way, I'd recommend seeing him. Put on a heckuva show when I saw him play in Philly back in March.

Any must haves in here? I've got a somewhat shitty connection and already 15 things dling. Plus the whole 90 page thing. I picked up that Salem album yesterday but haven't checked it out yet. Right now I have the Roy Montgomery/Grouper split and Toe from this thread dling.

modern R&B with a lot of non soul/R&B influences. At first I wasn't sure how I felt about it, but its grown on me a bit.

"Sick" on the new Salem just makes rape seem OK.

Shugo Tokumaru? No it's essentially psychadelic folk pop type stuff.

Yeah, and basically everything that once was is new again. Looking for some true originality in all of these acts and not coming up with much.
