I guess losing to the US clicked something in Canada's team brain. They've owned the last two teams. Granted, one of them was Germany, but to have this game tonight turn into such a snore fest was surprising. We stopped watching after the 2nd period. It just wasn't even fun to watch anymore.

Yeah, I'm starting to think Canada is going to kick our ass something fierce in the Gold Medal game (assuming both teams make it, which seems pretty likely at this point).

Unless something goes horribily wrong in both semifinal games, it will be Canada vs USA for the gold medal game. Now that we've found our groove and the chemistry is working, it should be a different 60 minutes of hockey throughout that rematch.

I. Can't. Wait.

Yeah. This matchup. Holy hell I am excited for it. Let's just hope USA doesn't shit the bed in the semi-finals.

I don't think USA will STB as much as CAN is out for blood in a most serious way.

If Canada doesn't win the gold that whole country would be in a state of depression it seems.

They needed to lose that game. For a fire under their asses. Well, a close call with the Swiss should've been enough actually. Look at the expectation that's been lumped on them, the pressure (and advantage, of course) of home ice, the pressure of being a dream team and playing stylized hockey instead of gritty hockey with hack goals. Against Russia they looked incredibly smooth – although do they go back to Brodeur or Luongo next? – and aggressive, so it'll be tough to fuck with them from this point on. This is the only medal that really matters.

if it were up to me, it'd be Luongo for sure, but I'm a die hard Canucks fan, so that could have something to do with it. When Brodeur tried to use his stick like a baseball bat to clear the puck in the Canada USA game, I lost all hope in him. He just isn't handling the pressure as well as Luongo.

yeah, barker, brodeur did not look sharp in that game. his puck 'movement' was a liability. lu didn't look that sharp when he was tested last night either...

Is today's hockey game going to be broadcast on one of those old fashioned radio thingy's? I can't find any places that are going to broadcast it. I may have to go set up shop in the conference room.

The Americans still have the most medals for these games and have tied their mark for most medals won in a Winter games. The Yanks have won 12 more medals than the Canucks to this point, and the host country spent an unusually large amount of money by Canadian standards to "own the podium".
With I believe only eight medal events left, and the USA guaranteed of winning one more, I don't think the USOC is sweating the fact they only have eight gold medals at this point.

Not for nuthin but I thought Apolo Ohno's DQ last night was horseshit.

I'd love an explanation on that.

Jesus christ, just shut the fuck up already. It's not like you won the goddamn medals. Your inability to understand a joke is offensive even in a fucking sports thread.

you DO know that the "winner" of the olympics is determined by the country with the most GOLD medals, right? Nobody cares about a buncha silver and bronze' medals. Those are just consolation prizes for the ones that don't win.

If that was the case, there wouldn't be articles like this out about the COC conceding the medal race.

I know the US has the most medals of the games, there is no questioning that. I'm saying that the IOC (and the rest of the world) ranks countries competing in the Olympics by the number of golds won. They always have. Google that shit, man. I'm not just pulling this out of my ass here.
