i am here. i am upset, but the future is bright. offense not changing significantly, but looks like we will add brandon lloyd. 4 picks in the 1st 2 rounds. defense finally starting to put it together a little bit. i expect spikes to be a monster next year. gronk and hernandez not even in their prime yet. 20 million of cap space. afc not very strong. i expect the pats to have at least 2-3 more shots before tommy's window is closed.

the game itself, very frustrating. pats beat themselves which they really don't do very often. 12 men on a fumble recovery is hard to swallow. ninny's offsides extended a drive that was over. those two pays right there, killers. either one doesn't happen and they win. welker uncharacteristic drop. giants put it on the ground 3 times and pats couldn't fall on it. credit goes to the giants of course. eli played well, made a great throw to manningham. but the pats needed about 1 play they didn't get and we would be talking about how bad the giants played. 3 fumbles, bradshaw giving us a minute, very poor football. also i have been ignoring sports websites and so on so i don't know if credit is being given to that punter who really should have been the mvp i am not kidding. pats has long fields in front of them all night. two perfect coffin corners. that guy killed it.

as for brady, i still say easily the best of his era if not all time. montana had rice for most of his career. brady has never had that or anything close. aside from moss, it has been spare parts at wr. even welker who is awesome enough that i forgive last night's drop is not the receiver he is now with any other qb. ask miami. this year there was absolutely no deep threat, no one to throw to outside the numbers. the guy can't win super bowls by himself and the two he has lost are by a combined 7 points. let's face it, the first one even though they were outplayed up front, the pats were ahead late thanks to a clutch tommy drive and then there is basically a miracle play on the other side. what can he do about it. i think the overall success of the tema under his command, 5 sb appearances, 3 titles, plus his crazy numbers without having that constant elite wr, i don't know how you could say another qb is even his peer.

i agree that montana had a better surrounding cast, and also agree that brady was hurt last night by some drops, BUT...

NO WAY Montana loses that game last night...NONE

the counter to montana having rice is that due to talent dilution, the patriots have had much easier runs to the super bowl. no teams are as talented as some of those teams back in the mid-late 80's or early 90's imo.

I think you're too used to seeing the Seahawks and are nostalgic.

Take players from today's times, give them 80s/90s NFL rules, and people heads would be fractured and slow-ass DBs would be chasing receivers on every play. If you think the contemporary athlete hasn't evolved, your head is up your ass.

I would put him right after Montana and Elway, definitely the best of this era right now but that could change.

I'm not sure which Pats meme I enjoy the most: No titles since Spygate, no titles without Romeo or no titles with Gisele; they are all equally plausible and ridiculous at the same time.

stu, you failed reading comprehension. i am not saying that a current team couldnt go back in time in a fleet of deloreans and beat teams from 20 years ago. what i am saying is that the teams the 81-95 Niners had to beat on the way to the SB (AS COMPARED TO THE 81-95 niners) were tougher. the road was more difficult.

the patriots didn't beat anyone all that great throughout the playoffs. my argument is that these days there are about 8 fairly good teams and a bunch of shitty teams. just go .500 and get hot in week 16 and the superbowl might be yours.

i might be full of shit but at least understand what i am saying. oh yeah and fuck the seahawks.

haha. stu knows i'm still bitter about being subjected to seahawks tv games my entire life. especially those shitty NBC late afternoon broadcasts of the exciting Hawks v. Raiders battles in the kingdome.

I seem to remember you saying that before as well. Just kidding around.

I do know how you feel. Living in Utah all we get here on the local channels is fucking Bronco and Niner's games. Therefore, I pay through the nose for the NFL Ticket every season.

at least watching the hawks on tv now is a better visual experience...nice stadium, etc. watching games in the old kingdome on tv was terrible...dark and dingy...the turf was stained and frayed. brutal.

Yeah, performing on the most watched TV show of the year is a shitty thing to do. What were they thinking?

Speaking of the halftime show... was everyone lip-syncing or not? I say yes, wife is unconvinced.

It's not like she was doing her own thing. She got about 30 seconds of a verse, and the rest of the time she was wearing some stupid costume to fit Madonna's performance and doing choreographed dancing around 50-year-old hag Madonna, like a nameless/faceless back up singer. It was demeaning.

But I think MIA just genuinely enjoys pissing people off, and seems like she did that. So, victory I guess.

i can't figure out if you loathe madonna or are just an incredible m.i.a. apologist.

I guess I am just a patriotic foo', but I thought the U2 "9-11 tribute" show in 2002 was the most powerful.
