First off , class doesn't win championships.

Secondly , just because I posted a pic of a 'Cane shooting a bird ( which was just to make the smack talk more fun , btw ) Do you actually think no other college teams do this.

Example. How bout the year when Miami traveled to Va Tech and not only did one of the assisitant coaches get hit by a metal garbage can leaving the field , but a Miami player that had to be taken to the hospital after the game by ambulance , was mobbed by a bunch of fuckin redneck losers who blocked the path , and rocked the ambulance back and forth. Now , that's class.

What about the coach from Miami (OH) ? who attacked a fan on the field durind the end of game celebration.

I could go on and on. The point being Miami is not the only school who talks shit. Sure , we may have started that trend back in the late 80's / early 90's , but we backed up our swagger by dominating college football. Because of our success year in and year out , most college football hate us. I could live with that. And if being a bunch of punk ass thugs with no class gets us a title shot this year. So be it.

AGAIN , the pic I posted was just to rile everyone up for a great season. Isn't that what college ball is about? Jeez.

And Rick , who is your team ? Georgia ? Ga Tech ? Va Tech?

Right.

Since when does "class" have anything to do with football?

I'm sorry, but I've hated Miami since the '80's. And class does have something to do with football. A lot.

I was just talking shit. Kind of. I do think class has something to do with football.

Class = Sportsmanship.

I realize that every big time program is guilty of thuggery at some point but come on dude. There is no other program in college football that has encouraged and embraced the thug type of attitude than Miami. I have no problem with it whatsoever but don't try to play them as the epitome of sportsmanship. It's part of Miami's identity and their fans embrace it as well. I secretly wish I knew what the players were doing behind closed doors during the 80's with Michael Irvin and the like fucking everything in sight.

For the record I'm a Georgia fan. Went to UGA and have been a fan since birth.

Some will say I'm foolish but I will take a clean, class program that is competitive and finishes in the top 10-15 every year over a dirty one that wins a national championship. (I'm not saying Miami is dirty)

Do I want to win a Chamionship? You bet your ass I do. I'm foaming at the mouth for one. I think Mark Richt can deliver on too. I don't know if this is the year but if we hang around the top ten long enough it'll happen.

I would LOVE to play Miami in a bowl game. The bowl system fucked shit up so bad the last couple of years. Seems they rarely get really intriguing match ups.

Well my college doesn't have a football team, so go Depaul Baseball, I'll be drunkenly trying out. My 48 mph slider should dominate.

He's just covering his bases. The whole "people in glass house shouldn't throw stones" thing.

I said above that EVERY big time program is guilty of some of this shit. You can't get the best and highest profile athletes/monsters and not expect a few bad apples.

He's exaggerating about rape but do remember former Bulldog, current Saint Charles Grant getting arrested for DAT PANDERING!! Also, I remember stories about DB we had in the mid-90's, Glenn Ford I think, who had apparently fathered about 4 kids with different girls while there. We had a couple guys busted for weed, etc.

That shit happens everywhere.

Just to throw in random shit in a college football thread. I read somewhere that Allen Iverson was supposed to be Notre Dame's quarterback but quit football to focus on basketball after experiencing a lot more racial tension and such in the high school football scene. Dude was an all-state Quarterback, Cornerback and returner in high school.

Are you kidding? I haven't heard this.

I do know you've got a beast in him in Cininnati. He will be every bit as good as Kendrell Bell was for the Steelers if he can stay healthy.

i only heard it from Dave, but maybe what he meant by "will rape his way out of the league" was that Odell's black.

EDIT- Correction, that was someone else:

My advice, then: wreck that shee'.

Ah , it's all good Rick. I guess I just took it a little to seriously. I agree with most of your top paragraph. And I respect your opinion about having a clean program that wins no titles. But , I live in South Florida , and that shit don't cut it down here. No title = dissapointing season. Yep , were spoiled.

I also visited Athens a few times to visit a friend and I must say , what a great little college town. Loved it there. UGA has the hottest girls by far. Went to the local strip bar and the female students ( who showed up in droves ) were just as hot as the dancers.

I remember a great story about one of our players going in for drug testing and when given the results was informed that he was pregnant.

Moral of the story...don't use your girlfriend's piss for the ol' tinkle test.

Welcome to the Big East. I'm looking forward to seeing my Alma Mater's hoops squad again. All-State's awesome for college hoops, not quite the RAC, but still great.

Since I just went through a Hurricane , thought I'd bump this thread up since were gettin closer to the season. Even if you all hate the 'Canes , you gotta read this. Pretty impressive.

If you had to guess what the best College Football team ever assembled was , who would you say?

Check this shit out.

A Look Back at the 2000 Canes

Shortly after Butch Davis took over in Cleveland I vaguely remember a remark he made that pretty much said the 2000 Canes were the most talented college football team ever assembled, and he wagered a guess that a good number of the players on that team would see action in the NFL. So let's take a look back at the 2000 Canes and see what we find. I'll go in numberical order.

#1 - WR Daryl Jones - Played 1 season with the New York Giants in 2002.
#2 - RB Willis McGahee - Currently on the Buffalo Bills.
#4 - RB Najeh Davenport - Currently on the Green Bay Packers.
#5 - WR Andre Johnson - Currently on the Houston Texans.
#6 - WR Santana Moss - Currently on the Washington Redskins.
#8 - CB Mike Rumph - Currently on the San Francisco 49ers.
#11 - QB Ken Dorsey - Currently on the San Francisco 49ers.
#17 - LB D.J. Williams - Currently on the Denver Broncos.
#20 - S Ed Reed - Currently on the Baltimore Ravens.
#21 - RB James Jackson - Played 4 seasons with the Cleveland Browns from 2001-2004.
#22 - CB Leonard Myers - Played from 2001-2004 with the Patriots and Lions, currently not under contract.
#27 - Markese Fitzgerald - Played 1 season with the Dallas Cowboys in 2003.
#28 - RB Clinton Portis - Currently on the Washington Redskins.
#31 - CB Phillip Buchanan - Currently on the Houston Texans.
#34 - RB Jarrett Payton - Currently on the Tennessee Titans.
#43 - CB Alfonso Marhsall - Currently on the Chicago Bears.
#44 - LB Dan Morgan - Currently on the Carolina Panthers
#49 - LB Darrell McClover - Currently on the New York Jets.
#51 - LB - Jonathan Vilma - Currently on the New York Jets.
#55 - DT - Jamaal Green - Currently on the Philadelphia Eagles.
#60 - OT - Vernon Carey - Currently on the Miami Dolphins.
#65 - OG - Martin Bibla - Currently on the Atlanta Falcons
#66- C - Brett Romberg - Currently on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
#70 - OT - Joel Rodriguez - Currently on the Tennesee Titans.
#73 - OT - Joaquin Gonzalez - Currently on the Indianapolis Colts.
#75 - DT - Vince Wilfork - Currently on the New England Patriots.
#76 - OT - Carlos Joseph - Currently on the San Diego Chargers
#77 - OG - Chris Myers - Currently on the Denver Broncos.
#78 - OT - Bryant McKinnie - Currently on the Minnesota Vikings.
#84 - WR - Andre King - Played 4 seasons for the Cleveland Browns 2001-2004.
#87 - WR - Reggie Wayne - Currently on the Indianapolis Colts.
#88 - TE - Jeremy Shockey - Currently on the New York Giants.
#91 - DE - Matt Walters - Currently on the Miami Dolphins.
#92 - DT - Damione Lewis - Currently on the St. Louis Rams.
#94 - DT - William Joseph - Currently on the New York Giants.
#95 - DE - Jerome McDougle - Currently on the Philadelphia Eagles.

Just think they had McGahee, Davenport, Portis and Payton in the same backfield. The 2001 recruiting class also added Sean Taylor, Antrel Rolle, Frank Gore, Kellen Winslow Jr. and Roscoe Parrish.

So unless someone can give me different evidence maybe the 2000 Canes did have the most talent of any college team ever.
