Never heard a single note from these guys. I'll see if I can still snag the used copy of ODS seen over the weekend.

I reccomend Southern Rock Opera. It'll give you a good primer on the way these folks think. Despite what these other morons say, listen to me and Rick Derris and you'll be alright.

Oh, and just so you know, SRO has "Get on the Plane" aka the best song ever.

Decoration Day, then Dirty South, then Southern Rock Opera, then Pizza Deliverance - but you can't go wrong with any of the first three. Just don't start with Alabama Ass Whuppin' or Gangstabilly.

I started with Alabama Ass Whuppin' and am still a fan. Looking back I'd say it WAS a good place to start because it was the only record they had available at the time (No store in Athens had Pizza Deliverance), now I'd probably start with Decoration Day then move on to Dirty South. Southern Rock Opera can be a unwieldy.

Go see them live. That's the best way to experience them.

OK...
Now that I'm convinced that the DBT's 'Southern Rock Opera' has landed a place in my greatest 'this or that' and would've certainly made my Top 10 of 2001 I need to know what's next.

Why should I get Dirty South ova' Decoration Day ?... and vice-versa.
Let's try and keep the emphasis on the 'why' part.

Without the use of our friends at Google, who can tell me the name of the man who shot George Wallace ? I'll give you a hint, his initials are A.B.
....and NO I didn't use Google

i dunno - for me I seem to like Decoration Day better overally but there are 2 or 3 really great tracks on Dirty South. I would start with Decoration Day I guess, but you can't go wrong with either.

It really is a toss up. Dirty South has "Goddamn Lonely Love" and "Carl Perkins' Cadillac", Decoration Day has "Sinkhole" and "Marry Me", and in my world all four of those songs are necessary additions to anybody's enjoyment of life.

As for the bonus question - dang, I can't remember that guy at all. But I'll hazard a guess... was it Aspartamus Bounder?

Close....but that only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades.
Didn't he have the occasional guest spot with the Pixies or was he the guy with the bad teeth? Perhaps Ian Dury's guitarist ?

As for the DBT's...shit, i'll just get both.

Raddy - ya got a package headed yer way.
