Jason, did you get over to Antwerp? If so, what'd you think?

We stayed there 2 nights, and it was dead cold, so we ended up only seeing the cathedral, zoo, downtown, and the capital building. Stayed right near Centraal station. Stayed at the Florida Hotel actually, hehe.

oh, and if anyone is planning a trip to south america and can possibly make it to ecuador, check out montanita. it's a tiny little beach town (literally about three blocks long) with enough surf, booze, and nightlife to make you feel like you're at a resort without actually being at a resort. one of my favorite places in the world:

Let me revise this:

US:
Savannah, GA
Las Vegas(don't know why I just want to go there)
Seattle
Boston
Virginia

Canada, VI's and South America:
Montreal
Quebec
Turks & Caicos
Grand Cayman(went there as a kid, want to go back)
Brazil

Europe & Asia and more:
Italy
France(was in the alps once, and it was gorgeous, want to see the rest-plus I'm obsessed with French history)
Athens
Ireland
London
Madrid
Tokyo
Australia
Vienna/Budapest/Berlin
Romania
Morocco
Iceland

And I'd love to go back to Geneva. Probably one of the best parts of my trip to france(we flew out of Geneva because it was on the border of where we were).

Ok, so I want to go a lot of places.

didn't make it to antwerp. my buddy and i were actually driving to amsterdam, and it was getting pretty late and we were beat so we just decided to take the next exit and crash for the night. turned out that exit was brugge. ended up staying there for 3 days!

Thanks, Rodney. You said it well. It's not that I don't welcome the handsome obner boys to Portland, but my husband just might find it a tad unacceptable when I tell him that some guy I *kinda* know from an online board will be crashing at our place. I'd be down for meeting folks.

it's cool if you've never been, and doesn't sound like Jen has

me and the lady friend will probably be taking a trip to somewhere in the England/Scotland/Ireland area next year...probably Eugene/Portland as well

other than that, high on the list are:
Alaska
New Zealand
most anywhere along the Mediterranean

also, if I were crazy wealthy, I'd plan an season-long college football tour across the US

you can't FUCK with southern cookin', especially ghetto BBQ. find a bad neighborhood with a BBQ joint, and you'll find the best food you'd ever tasted.

i got a few of those in my hood. Yam Yam's on MLK is one I go to quite often.

On vegas - perhaps you are right. I have been there 3 times (mainly for work) and it was really only fun when I was in college.

and jagged, that sounds cool. I'd like to do a baseball stadium tour as I've only ever been to SF and Oaktown for baseball. Would love to see Fenway, Wrigley, Yankee Stadium, etc.

agreed. i could totally move to Brugge for the rest of my life and not miss a cheesesteak once. and from me that's saying a LOT.

I get a monthlong sabbatical in addition to regular vacation time in a couple of years (assuming I stay at my current job). My husband and I were thinking about doing a bike trip in Belgium, Germany and Italy. He's very keen on the Tuscany idea as well, and keeps threatening to make me ride the Stelvio Pass. Ain't gon' happen!

I've also got 2 friends in Oz (one's in Melbourne, the other's in Newcastle). I need to get my ass down there soon.

hey Rodney, are the bar exams only offered during specific times of the year? Couldn't you do your trip during a nice time of the year and take the bar before or afterwards? Or postpone your big trip til the following year?

I never go anywhere because apparently international travel without a passport is frowned upon and, oh yeah, I don't have any money ever, but if I did have money and a passport I'd like to visit a few places around the globe.

Firstly I liked to visit Russia, particularily, St. Petersburg. I'd also like to follow in my grandfathers footsteps and travel around India/Pakistan/Sri Lanka but since I get heat stroke at 60 degrees farenheit I'm not sure if that would be a good idea. I've also heard the stories about the wild dogs, leopards, beggars, king cobras and cockroaches the size of your head.

One day I'd like to visit New York, even thought the US goverment won't let me into the country because as everyone knows Al Qaeda is chock full of red headed Scottish guys who love Sonic Youth and jazz.

totally understood. i'm actually considering a trip to eugene to visit a friend within the next few months, portland would be in the mix for a day... but lunch/cd shopping would be awesome. will keep ya posted.

i become eligible for my sab in Sept 07. As far as the bar - they hold it in february and july. i will be done with school may 1 of 07. It's all a big timing mess.

Unless I can figure out how to quit work and not have any income for a couple months, I will have to take my sab in like December and January, take the bar in Feb, then quit my current job when I can find lawyerin job.

Someday will get to:

Costa Rica
Brazil
Argentina
New Zealand
Austrialia
Fiji/ South Pacific Islands

I've been to a lot of countries in Europe (studying abroad in college was the best thing ever). We're heading to Spain in a month. Maybe back to Italy next May.

I worry about getting to all these places before I'm too old or tied down w/ kids, etc. I need to stay young forever somehow. I will make it to New Zealand within the next 5-7 years. I'd also like to do Costa Rica in the next year or two.
