Except in the case of
Alien Resurrection. I love that series and I think that was a severe stinker. He probably could have done something cool with it, but from the sounds of things, he got just as fed up with Fox as David Fincher did on
Alien3 (whose half-finished "director's cut" in the recent box is so superior to the original I don't think I could ever look at that abortion again) and decided to just blow what was left of the "legacy" to smithereens.
I didn't even know he did that. I thought it was great up until that human/alien hybrid showed up and then that ruined most of the movie for me.
