Sorry, I meant in Dredg's catalog.
oh ok. well they have two others and they're all drastically different from one another.
the first one, leitmotif, is heavier with significantly less singing. infact i think i actually calculated this once and it turned out to be something like 73% instrumental, but the absence of vocals isn't very noticeable at all. the instrumentation on this is very creative and often leans towards the progressive side of things but is never overtly technical. production has a very raw quality to it, vocals are mixed pretty low- despite this what they're able to create is surprisingly powerful. they also incorporate a good deal of eastern influences including chanting. definitely unlike anything i've ever heard before and flows flawlessly from one song to the next.
the sound on el cielo is much more mature and dynamic- the phrase 'sweepingly epic' comes to mind when trying to describe it. vocals are pushed to the forefront (and for a long time this is where they lost me) and the instrumentation is slightly more familiar/accessible. heavy guitars (while repetitive at times), creative drumming and eastern influences are all still present but take a backseat to the vocals and overall sound of the album. the production is much cleaner and dream-like, the rhythms more pounding, the melodies easier to sing along to. overall a decidedly uplifting album to listen to (if you can get over the vocals.)
difficult for me to recommend one over the other, but i'd say they're both vastly superior to catch without arms
