the girl and I are discussing going as the singers of Van Halen. We had a brawl about who gets to be who (I can karate kick better in public, but am also fatter) and at this rate I think i'll be walking around with a bottle of Cabo Wabo and struggling to breathe. she wins everything. A friend of ours volunteered to be Gary Cherone and just skulk around behind us all night.

My husband briefly considered going as one of the New Orleans looters... He was just planning on bringing a cooler to the pary we're going to, and then taking all the beer.

wow, what a great way to justify various bottles of beer falling out of my pocket on the way out of a party...

Hells yes!
Every year some lawyer friends here in town take over the 3rd floor of an abandoned theater downtown, invite half the city, bring in a DJ, get the thing catered and charge $2 to drink the whole night. Think I left @ 3 a.m. last year.

My friends are coming with, so we're considering a group theme costume; possibly the X-Men, with me being Prof. X, natch.

Couple years ago my friend in D.C. went dressed up as Steve Bartman (THAT Cubs fan from the 2003 NLCS). Headphones, glasses, dumb hat and sweatshirt and he topped it off my bumping into people and acting like a clutz all night.
That was a great one.

Best one I ever saw was after the OJ Simpson trial. Dude went as one of those small boxes of orange juice with stuff like "Orenthal James Simpson" and "The Juice is Loose" on them.

What sealed the deal was the 18-inch wide bendy straw coming out of his right shoulder.

si. and a really great guy.

Prolly right. I just remembered the name, fuzzily, granted, from hearing a friend of the time (late nineties) speak ill of him. The Spiel (as my friend was known; short for his last name of Federspiel) didn't like that Verveer basically served only the students of UW in his capacity of alderman. Thought he was a total panderer.

Of course, the Spiel was a first-class jack-ass himself. But, regardless... He was a friend, so I took his word.

my finest moment was 3 years ago and dressing up as a kissing booth. it hasn't even been worth trying since then.

IF I dress upt, I might consider being Avril Lavigne, as I have been thinking about doing it for the past 3 years, but always find another costume I like slightly better beforehand.

I kinda doubt I'll be dressing up.

not sure. i'm going to be in vegas on halloween night for work that whole week.... supposedly vegas is crazy on halloween so i might dress up. but i know there will be costume parties my friends are throwing over the weekend.

last year i was gogo yubari from kill bill and that was fun putting the costume together... so i need to think of something good this year or i won't do it at all.

I'm having a party like I do every year. I think this is the fourth in a row, now.

I will be attending as Edward Scissorhands.

Two of my friends are going as Robert Smith and Siouxsie Sioux. And my other friend's going as Disco Dracula.

Jen, I'm not sure the boys need anything that elaborate...
