Well said, Steve. Do gun laws save lives? Probably.

Do gun laws make people any less violent overall? I don't believe so; it just changes the effect/severity of the violence. Murder goes down; assaults go up. The people who would have died are now stuck in hospitals with medical bills they might not be able to afford. Unless the gun law changes have a cultural ripple-effect (changes in media programming, et al.), I don't think the country becomes any safer.

Yeah, they're called 'tasers'.

I don't have a gun. I don't ever plan to use a gun. I don't think the presence of guns are the problem, nor do I believe gun laws are an effective long-term answer. People will find other ways to kill each other if they want to badly enough, and I'd rather focus on where those wants come from.
By this, do you mean personally, or as a society? Because as far as the law goes, you're not really allowed to predetermine whether or not someone is going to perform a crime, they have to actually commit one, before you can do anything about it legally.

I agree that we should voluntarily find out where these urges come from, but unfortunately, I'm not sure you can force people to take pills, just because you think they're going to kill someone.

That opens up a whole ball of worms which is completely unconstitutional.

Yes they do. They have a range of about 15-20 feet, I think.

I'm not a big gun freak, but I've been around them all my life. And, the euthanization squad will need to get around this to get through my door:

That's right. But people die from being tagged with them, also.

I agree. I'm not talking about using laws to change behavior at all. I'm talking about making cultural changes to allow people whatever means are necessary to handle violent impulses without hurting anybody else. But the masses are the ones who have to make the choice do go that direction. Peace is an internal choice and is never going to result from somebody else telling you what you can and can't do.

Well, other options are:

shotguns loaded with rock salt or birdseed (hurts...stings...bleed, but not kill)
rubber bullets

Fuck, you really don't even need bullets. Most burglars/rapists/criminals of all types instintively know the trouble that follows the racking of a 20 gauge.

Yeah, or record a bunch of rottweilers/dobermans barking and play it if you hear somebody coming on in.

they just changes the laws recently to this, but now it's extended to cover being in your car and, in some cases, on the street. It is the most retarded policy ever and they should have fun with that.

I don't know if that stands for North East or New England, but I'm all for it. Shotguns and rifles should be all over the place. I just don't see the need for pistols (other than for cops/bail bondsmen/etc...) because they're fucking useless. I absolutely DO NOT think we should have machine guns and sniper rifles available for purchase by the common man. If I'm not trusted enough to smoke pot, I certainly should be trusted with the fucking killmonger 5000 armor-piercing life-fucker. I think that shit is ridiculous. But yeah, i'm all for the real guns.

That's pretty much how I feel, muchacho.

That being said, yes I have a couple. So dont be tryin it.

As a LooGAR-appointed NE liberal, I'd be ok with outlawing autos & handguns, but not hunting paraphenalia.
