I'm running an artist tournament on another board. ABBA is currently in the round of 32 having beaten Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers, Eminem, and David Bowie. I'm pretty sure they will face the winner of Fatboy Slim vs. the Isley Brothers.

Isleys are the underdog despite having a higher seed. They needed my tiebreaker to beat Sam Cooke. Fatboy Slim, meanwhile, beat Nirvana by four votes!

oh shut up you know what I meant. I meant electronica, I didn't say they invented it but they fit in somewhere.

If there is anything I know it's my northern soul backwards and forwards.

I would debate that northern soul isn't good dance music, but then I don't really like the non-funk/soul dance music, so I'm probably just being selective.

my point is this. of course they didn't invent dance music. But they certainly have a place in the lexicon.

Not well enough apparently. Isleys won by default.

This is quite sad, really. Just listen to "A Change is Gonna Come" and you'll get the picture.

Easily in my Top 10 artists of all time. Something about the dude.

And I LOVE Abba, darlin'

And I liked em before it was ironical and cool to do so. I'm the dude whose parents listened to Abba, Neil Diamond and The Oak Ridge Boys on road trips.

Oh, and my dad has been known to play chiquitita on repeat at top volume to the disgust and dismay of his house guests. I've always been partial to fernando, tho.

When I worked the potato harvest as a teenager, there was this Guatemalan potato truck driver who used to sing that just about every day. George Lopez + Wilmer Valderrama + Wedding Singer + migrant worker in northern Maine potato field.
