anyone else notice an overabundance of spiders this year?

My cousin said he recently found a spider on his kitchen counter that was so big he actually heard it walking before he saw it.

Even if it is two spiders, it still would scare the crap out of me. Those two could take out a small cat...

I think they are called crab spiders or something. The pic was taken some place in Iraq.
