Usually I'm never on time for shows due to the fact that my friends lag but last night I got there before the show started. Thank god for the bar and smoking patio because I couldn't take one note of that Morningwood band. And thanks for the warning too. Jake didn't believe me and wanted to check them out, and I told him, "Dude if Tania says they're not good, they probably aren't..." and then he goes up to the front, listens to the band for a minute, looks at me with horror, then walks outside. It was hilarious.

Also, Tania, remember that band that opened for Muse at the Wiltern awhile ago? I think they were called the Exit, oh wow, they were horrible.

Holy crap, The Exit were horrendous. But not as bad as Morningwood. Let's not forget about the other equally horrible band, Louis XIV. *gag*

I have been known to go to concerts for the opening band (Garbage for the Smashing Pumpkins -- ended up enjoying the Smashpups; Nine Inch Nails for The Jesus & Mary Chain -- walked out on J&MC when I realized I couldn't separate one song from the next; NIN/Bowie coheadliner; I forget the others -- I want to say Drain S.T.H. for Filter, but I stuck around for Filter; I noticed a lot of Placebo fans walked out after Placebo played when they opened for Stabbing Westward or Garbage or someone...I dug 'em; many more).

Best opener ever was/is The Hard Lessons, opening for The Electric Six last September. They've since become my favorite undiscovered band and I'm seeing them again in about 24 hours.

The Hard Lessons kick all kinds of ass. I've seen them twice and love 'em.

I always try to see the support band because I'm interested in music and like hearing new things.

-Enon opening for the Flaming Lips around the time of Believo!/Soft Bulletin

I bet this was a sweet show.

The Good:
I saw Enon open for Pinback last year and it was pretty good.

The Bad:
Limp Bizkit opening for Primus...that pretty much says it all.

Can just tell the demographics here from whose seen what - I saw pulp/blur (awesome) and manson/nin (even then, manson's fans were losers) of those mentioned.

Of openers I had zero expectations of, shannon wright was really good opening for mogwai (? I think...) at the fonda and whoever opened for melt banana at the troub last year were fucking awful.
