the reason i proposed the question was that last week a good friend of mine was staggering home drunk, and a car full of brass-knuckled black guys who had just been huffing paint (chroming is real big 'round here amongst the indigenous population) had some vendetta to settle with some skinhead who apparently looked like my friend. They knocked him to the ground and then proceeded to stomp on his face and fuck him up. He said they didn't say a word the whole time, and then drove off without commenting. He's lucky they didn't kill him.

I was a doorman at a bar back in 02-03 and had to take a punch once or twice, etc.

Thom Savant and I were in a brawl in southern France back in the spring of 1997. We pretty much ran for our lives. Guys on PCP attacking you in large numbers - not cool.

Oh and there was this guy who was harrassing us outside of Trash in Brooklyn last month, but that fortunately did not escalate into much. Another instance of us trying to avoid getting in a fight...

The problem with where i live is that it's a fringe urban/regional centre, so you have the clash of rednecks with the 'urban' crowd. It has a relatively large population, but the nearest city bigger than it, Brisbane, is about 1300 kms away. I read a report that said there were more gay bashings here per capita than anywhere else. There are so many rednecks who mix in social circles parallel to 'arty' people, so there is naturally cause for tension. We also have the largest military base in Australia, and, as you know, AJs like to fight. Also, Palm Island, a strictly-indigenous island installation that is visible from where i'm sitting right now, is said by Interpol to be the most dangerous place in the world outside a warzone. That said, white people aren't allowed to go there unless they have special government-issued permits.

Probably around 97-98 at at a Drivin N Cryin concert at the 40 Watt in Athens.

I was with a big group of folks and some of us didn't know each other. Midway through the show my buddy and I decide to have "smoke" break. In the middle of this a blonde who was with us came over to us and asked to join in and we oblige.

15 minutes later her boyfriend comes over and gets in my face screaming how dare I give that shit to his girl, etc. I told him that she asked for it and the last I checked she was an adult who can make her own decisions.

I actually apologized to the guy and went on my way. He wouldn't let it go. He came back and got in my face one more time and at this point I was good and liquored up and pissed. I told him if he didn't back off we were going to have a problem. He continued and I decked him right in the mouth and took him to the floor. A couple more punches and some rolling around followed. It was broken up and I immediately left due to the police prescence.

Ask most anyone and they'll tell you I'm a lover not a fighter and it takes a hell of a lot to get me riled up but I'm not gonna put up with bullshit either.

Agreed though you and Harry Monster are two dudes that I would prefer not to tangle with when you get pissed off enough to scrap.

I just remembered that some dude attacked me in a bar like last year and Busty and The Hult Man had to jump the guy and dump him out of the bar.

Nah, I don't fist fight. Not even any clawing or hair pulling. I do punch my husband in the arm every once in a while though.

I have seen Derris riled, but does Harry even get mad?

Dunno, but I've always thought that dude has a certain "he's killed before, he'll kill again" quality to him.

I don't hit but I did just get into a foot stomping bitch fest with one of my bosses this morning. She pissed me off awfully bad and we were yelling at each other and I stormed off.

We do that though. That's why they call me their little sister now. We're fine at the moment, that was about 45 minutes ago.

I do remember getting into a fight about 11 years ago at a party. This girl had been stalking me at bars for about two and a half years and being a total whore bitch. I never knew why, then at this party she was being really bitchy and finally I made some bitchy comment back at her, and my guy friends kind of started following me around the rest of the party to keep me from getting killed(I'm not the fighting type and she was this stoner chick who was). After that comment next thing I knew she came LUNGING at me and threw me up against the frig with her arm to my neck up against it and she hit me. I hit her back, my best friend got involved and the dumb bitch BIT her. Then five guys pulled us apart.

Then it turned out that she told me that two years before her bf was caught cheating and when pressed for a name he spit out MINE!!! Which wasn't true as I was living with someone at the time.

Anyways, we made up after she realized she was being a paranoid whore and all was well with the world again.

Never had a fight like that again. Though I HAVE been having vivid fantasies lately about beating the crap out of my brother's psychopathic wife.

Pre medication, I was getting into fights a few times a month.

Post medication, haven't been in a fight since 1999

The side affect is that I have to fake being an actual human being now.

From my experience, the only people who get into fights are hotheads, meatheads, or trash. I'll never believe that people can't control their emotions enough to avoid getting into physcial altercations. There are always other options.

Sunset blvd Rock n Roll Denny's (rip) May 30th 1992:

I was 17 & hanging out with some friends, one in school with me, the other a few years older who had moved to our area from Texas. We're drunk, out on the town after a backyard kegger got broken up in our area.

My classmate makes the mistake of hitting on these girls in thier prom dresses, like they didn't have dates? So of course the dates jump out of the limo & start talking shit to him. And they're cholos from Venice (allegedly 1 of them had a Venice tat). I grab my friend & start walking trying to defuse the situation when I get punched in the back of the head. I whip around, grab the guy throw him up against the building & start wailing on him. He didn't get another punch in & lucky for him 2 off duty cops working security inside Dennys (yes the place got that crazy on Saturday nights) came out & seperated us. I follow the 2 security guys around the parking lot & find my friend who got beat down by 2 or 3 of them. Our friend from Texas took off down the street & didn't get touched. Then one of the girls starts yelling at me like it's my fault. I grab my friends & we make it back to our car & headout.

The 2 of them start talking about how we should track them down & kick the shit out of them. I'm more pissed at them than the fcker who hit me. Beat them up? You had your chance. You ran & you got beatdown. And I got a huge lump on my head. Besides this is LA, you don't track people down chances are they have guns. I talk them down & we end up in Long Beach trying to sneak into the Spruce Goose for a rave.

Um. Not too long ago, I think around June. I was drunk, and this guy I know started talking shit to me after the club. I got pissed and told him to shut up and called him out on all his bullshit (now, most of my friends usually just ignore him but I was sick of his nonsense). So he got up in my face, and by this time I was pretty pissed... my friends were trying to calm us down but then he took a swing at me. So I punched him in the face. What kind of guy hits a girl? I had to do it, and mind you, he started it. Then it got ugly because my guy friends were LIVID at the situation but the asshole ran away like a little bitch and he couldn't believe I fought back. Sure I could've ignored him- but I'm not like that.... and if any of you knew this dude, you'd understand why I didn't just walk away. He's one of the biggest pricks in L.A.

I've been in quite a few fights, and I try not to anymore but sometimes it happens.

Let's see or they're defending themselves.

Dude, people fight. It's been around since the beginning of time.

What are you, a sissy?

That's the biggest cop out I've ever heard. Everyone I know who's been in a fight is unstable to begin with. Normal, stable human beings don't get into fights or put themselves in a position to be provoked. Just sayin'...

That's not true Chris... sometimes it just happens, people are assholes. So then you're saying that all of us who have been into a fight are unstable?

Now, if one goes out picking fights with other people, then that's lame.

I'm saying, that trouble follows some people around because they allow it. You put yourself in a questionable situation, you will be forced to take action. That's all I'm saying.

I'm not talking about being mugged or something of that nature. It's more of an attitude thing. In a bar, if you allow something to escalate to the point that a fight breaks out, then I think it's partially you're fault. There are always other ways to handle these situations.

What other ways are there to handle a situation where your friend in high school is having his head pummelled by a bully and you happen upon them or a cretinous lump of gump is making sexual advances towards your wife/girlfriend/whatever and won't go away? Do you ask them nicely to stop or do you stop them? I say stop the fuckers. Unless there happens to be a cop standing next to you or something and you can yell out for handcuffs and Mirandas.

I fully agree that there are other ways to handle situations one-on-one, but when someone else is being hassled, take the hassler down.

Grade Seven. So.. uh.. eight years ago.

One swing. Knocked off his glasses, which he proceeded to trample on by accident. Cut open his lip.

All the girls came running to see if he was okay.

Totally lame.
