I saw Hank III once and had a good damn time.
He's punk rock or something... But he's trad. country, unlike his pop... No?
He played two sets. The first set he came out looking like a gotdamn ghose of his grandfather. Tall, lanky, piping on the shirt and a rumpled up cowboy hat. He played all covers, except the finale. Surprisingly, he only played one Hank, Sr. song, "Hey Good Lookin'", if I recall. All the other songs were awesome traditional country tunes by the likes of Webb Pierce, Jimmie Rodgers and Lefty Frizzell.
At the end of that set, he announced that they were going to take a short break and warned the crowd that when they came back it was going to be "that hellbilly punk rock shit I also like to play, so it's gonna get loud".
He came back out with an electric guitar and a Misfits t-shirt with the sleeves cutoff, and his braided ponytail hanging out the back of his hat. The crowd completely flopped. The older guys in the front moved to the back, and the kids in the back pushed to the front. There are a good number of songs I didn't recognize, but I don't know if they were originals or not. However, the 10-12 minute Misfits medley finishing up with damn near the entire crowd in a frenzy chanting "We are 138-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8" was pretty fucking cool.
