He's punk rock or something... But he's trad. country, unlike his pop... No?

I recall when he was first getting pub., 'round '00 or '01, he was touted as restoring the family name and leaving behind the glitzy Nashvegas trapping on his father's production.

I think the above is a load of bull - the saw "if it's older, it's better...".

I'm really just messing around with the whole Jr. thing. I'm just tired of that fucking song is all.

I enjoy a song from him from time to time. But I couldn't even BEGIN to tell you the last time I heard a complete song.

I was about to agree with you then I remembered U2's performance of "Where The Streets Have No Name" post 9/11 at the Super Bowl XXXVI with all of the names that came scrolling down the screen.

Genuinely moving.

i completely ignore the half-time show and try my best to ignore madden. "weird al" mcgraw doesn't impress me butchering his own pathetic song hanging out in a fake bar, kimmel's best skits are still lame-O and madden's had a brain impairment for at least 10 years ("and all those things"). i wish they'd simply call the game.

He played two sets. The first set he came out looking like a gotdamn ghose of his grandfather. Tall, lanky, piping on the shirt and a rumpled up cowboy hat. He played all covers, except the finale. Surprisingly, he only played one Hank, Sr. song, "Hey Good Lookin'", if I recall. All the other songs were awesome traditional country tunes by the likes of Webb Pierce, Jimmie Rodgers and Lefty Frizzell.

At the end of that set, he announced that they were going to take a short break and warned the crowd that when they came back it was going to be "that hellbilly punk rock shit I also like to play, so it's gonna get loud".

He came back out with an electric guitar and a Misfits t-shirt with the sleeves cutoff, and his braided ponytail hanging out the back of his hat. The crowd completely flopped. The older guys in the front moved to the back, and the kids in the back pushed to the front. There are a good number of songs I didn't recognize, but I don't know if they were originals or not. However, the 10-12 minute Misfits medley finishing up with damn near the entire crowd in a frenzy chanting "We are 138-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8" was pretty fucking cool.
