V/A - Kitsune X (and Kitsune Maison, although it's not as good)

There are a few people round here who stray into these kind of albums, but most people are content to stick to the new pornographers and wolf parade

This thread rules cuz I haven't had the time to pay attention to that much this year, and I've enjoyed a few mentioned in this thread VERY much.

It could have something to do with the fact that I got Soulseek working for the first time in over a year.

Dredg - Catch Without Arms

Will prolly be in my #1 slot.

The Posies - Every Kind Of Light

If you ever were a fan of them back in the day, do give this album a try. Those bastards still got it.

And I wouldn't mind hearing any of those three albums you recommended---I'm not averse to much of anything. RIYL?

The Orb are an old ambient techno group, and practically invented the stuff back in the day. This is their new album after switching to the german label Kompakt.

Sunn 0))) is noise/ambient type stuff that sounds like impending doom. It isnt really metal, but it's pretty creepy.

Kitsune is a label that puts out a comp (two this year) of electro-house type stuff. It's great, fun stuff. RIYL: Daft Punk i guess. Ima upload this since im listening to it now.

Actually, I almost picked up that Sunn O))) album earlier tonight, but went for Klaus Schulze's new one instead. The reasoning went like this: I spend about 10 times the amount of time listening to music at work than I do at home, so I need to concentrate my stuff for work. I listen to mostly Fax and Tangerine Dreamy type stuff at work, with the occasional classical and Keith Jarrett.

Hate to drop these names, because everyone does, but... they sound like Flaming Lips and Mercury Rev. This album is even more awesome as it's pretty much one seamless track all the way through.

Harold Budd - Avalon Sutra The last work by one on the inventors of ambient. If music can be called spiritual, and if wisom and peace can be gained by old age...welp, here you are. Sip green tea as you get up at 4:30 to write...

A-Frames - Black Forest Joy-Division filtered through grungey Amon Duul -like metalic droning. Sip tequila as you dry to come down after a run of 5 days...

Edgar "Jones" Jones Soothing Music For Stray Cats

Konstantinl has been trumpeting this for months, and he's 100% right. It's like some 1930s jazz/blues genius has been teletransported into modernday London. It makes absolutely no sense that THAT voice is emanating from the larynx of a young white dude (from an obscure punk background). Forget Jamie Lidell (that's Otis Redding by way of American Idol as performed by Rare Earth) and get on the Edgar train.

He's right you know. Which makes me right too. And when you have that much right you just can't go wrong!
