Excellent year. I'll say 'Without a Sound' by Dionsuar Jr but it was hard to decide between that and Pavement, Meat Puppets, Weezer and Sebadoh.

Jeff Buckley - Grace

at the time, it was probably
Jawbox - For Your Own Special Sweetheart
Bad Religion - Stranger then fiction
Gravediggaz - 6 Feet Deep -> GREAT ALBUM

I voted Dummy, but it was tough between that and Grace, Ruby Vroom, and Parklife.

No brainer for me despite some pretty awesome competition.

Teenager of the Year is the best album of the 1990's by a good margin IMHO; and believe me---I've thought about it. Busty and I milled over our Top 20 of the 90's for about 2 years. (and I dont think we ever really settled it, it was just something to do at the bar when we were bored/buzzed)

I just listened to it the other day and it still blows my shit away.

4. Beck
5. Blur
6. NIN
7. Massive Attack

Subject to change if someone drags an album out that I've forgotten.

edit: Just checked my cd collection on a hunch and I was right:

Yeah, that summer we literally sat outside, drank Keystone (the cheapest swill we could stomach) and listened to TOTY every godamn day.

You'd think I'd have gotten sick of it by now but shit like "Superabound" still makes me drive my truck waaaaaay too fast.

Second for me as well, but not much can top "At Action Park"

"My Black Ass"? More like MY Black Ass.

Illmatic slightly over Ready to Die...probably Watusi and Grace in slots 3 and 4 for me. I don't have time today to research what else might be missing.

I should have included it on my 'list' too (same with Bee Thousand), but it never affected me as profoundly. I haven't heard it in awhile and am gonna have to give it a spin asap. I don't even think it's loaded on my ipod.

that album has some weak spots in it for me but "Blue" is such a great fucking song. I mean DAMN.

"Miss Williams Guitar" is pretty hot too.

I am, but that's not my favorite album by him and I'd put the four I mentioned above it and probably Parklife too. I'm sure I'm forgetting things I like from 1994 also so I didn't feel like ranking more than 3-4.

I will say that I like Frank Black solo more than the Pixies and I loved the Pixies back in the day...

i picked weezer because that is what i was rockin then.

2nd choice: biggie

those 2 albums were in constant rotation my freshman year in h.s.

however, NOW i would pick portishead & pavement (note: both were post-94 discoveries as well and portishead is in my top 10 albums of all time.)

I voted for Blur 'Parklife' because

1) I can't be bothered to check the 'full' list which seems to be unreliable anyway

2) It will annoy people

3) It's a good album

Me too. I put The Pixies on a humongous pedestal, but I think the Frank Black shit is better.

No offense intended though, I was just curious as to your thoughts on the man.

I'm sticking with Illmatic but I forgot about those two which both are great and probably change my top five.
