I've always imagined that some Depeche Mode songs are just begging to be country ditties.

Johnny Cash - "Personal Jesus"

In my opinion, there's a difference between reinterpreting a song and ruining it. The Scissor Sisters ruined "Comfortably Numb." One listen and it was obvious that this group didn't pay attention to the lyrics, the chords or the soul of the song. They wanted to see if they could make it dancy and did just that. It's like telling an earthworn to swim in salt - it just doesn't work and only ends up being very ugly.

As for the rest of the album...I thought it was tepid at best. Mojo was right to give it only two stars.

The best cover I've heard was Moby's version of "That's When I Reach For My Revolver." It just sounds more passionate and angry than the original, which is odd for Moby. He's not really a rage-o-holic.
