TJ is scary as hell. It's all impulse buys as far as I'm concerned, but most of the stuff is tasty and relatively cheap.

Why would I ever buy:

wasabi peas
trail mix
4 pack of hummus
random tapenades

I've got no self-control.

True, and usually better quality items are sold at TJ's. I don't view TJ as an upscale place... that's more like Whole (Foods) Paycheck.

the portland TJ's is the only one i've been to. i think colorado is the only state they haven't hit yet.

i have to buy a ton of the wasabi iso peanuts whenever i visit pdx, or have my buddy bring some out when he visits.

I am unaware of Trader Joe's in Louisiana or Mississippi for that matter. I've been to one but I think it was out of state.
