I use to talk with Gene Simmons on the phone daily for about a year...

Once a week or so, I will IM chat with Rikki Rockett of Poison, ZimZum (formerly of Marilyn Manson), and few lesser music celebs now and then on a regular basis...

I used to see the drummer from the wrens at least twice a week during lunch.

Does that count?

I know quite a number of peeps in the currently popular Mtl & TO indie bands, some are good friends, so we speak regularly.

But I've never corresponded with bands on a fan basis---i.e. still haven't made friends with Bjork or PJ Harvey.

My former employer was exchanging emails with John Zorn who apparently liked his (my employer's music). That was pretty cool.

The lead singer for The Young Sportsmen(he was previously the lead singer of Muzzle) is a former housemate of mine.

Jim Dine has a perma tan, ha ha ha. He is giving ys his entire print archive. Terry Winters is really really really nice.

I am totally not psyched for the Hockney show. But I worked on Cubism. And I wrote a bunch of wall labels for Degas to Picasso which opens next week. as for tix, it really depends when you go. If you went like, Monday afternoon, then no, but on a weekend, fer sure.

She's hot in Old School. I didn't realize she was the same girl from Rushmore.

I don't talk to anyone even remotely famous on a regular basis, but on New Years Eve I did use Michael Stipe as my coat check.

I talk to Zach from the Turpentine Brothers/Kings Of Nuthin fairly often. I also talk to Scott from The Unseen once in awhile.

Other than that, it's just a bunch of people in some other Boston bands.

I used to work a golf course and would see some semi-famous people come in when summerfest was in town...bands and whatnot, but I used let Johnny Logan on the course for free all the time in exchange for Brewers tickets, that guy is an absolute riot.

John Peel had my phone number (although I only spoke to him twice) and we e-mailed for years. Mainly me pestering him it has to be said but he was always nice enough to reply. One of the highlights of my life is (despite having no music talent whatsoever) being mention on the John Peel show on numerous occassions. Once when I got a new job he played a Kanda Bongo Man track in my honour which I thought was really nice.

I think I got his attention because I come from Motherwell. John was a big soccer fan and whenever he was in the Glasgow (which was quite a lot) rather than watch the big two teams (Rangers and Celtic) he'd go to the sparsely supported Motherwell matches. Also one of Johns favourite bands, The Delgados, come from Motherwell.

He certainly latched on to my locale.

I just found out recently that I'm related to Mike Vrabel from the Patriots. But I've never talked to him.

When I was in Pittsburgh I used to talk with Tony from Aloha now and then. I went to school with his then-girlfriend/now-wife.

I'm apparently related to Jim Nabors but none of my relatives know how to reach him.

In high school I went to Johnny Unitas' son's rival high school. He'd come to the games in which we played them. I used to talk to him on those occassions. Nicest guy.

there's about 10 pro athletes or somewhere around that number that i used to play with, or my brother used to play with that i would see basically on a daily basis. as for musicians, only some lesser known emo bands and some underground rappers..
