Here are College Football News's National Title Contenders:
10. West Virginia
9. Tennessee
8. Florida State
7. Oklahoma
6. Auburn
5. Ohio State
4. LSU
3. USC
2. Florida
1. Texas

I can't freaking believe that the SEC gets four teams in there and that Tennessee is in front of Notre Dame, Nebraska and West Virginia.

It's because it's the toughest conference in the nation. The reason teams like Alabama, LSU, UGA, Florida, Auburn don't look spectacular week in and week out like the USC's of the world is because THEY ARE PLAYING EACH OTHER!! All of those teams consistently have the best D's in the nation.

Lib I respect your knowledge of college football but what are you smoking? Please stop living off Nebraska's last national championship and tell me where you see that Nebraska should be considered a national power anymore much less contend for a National Championship?

Estone- I love Croyle's game. If he hadn't had so many injuries and had a better cast to work with he would've set every passing record Bama has. Great arm, pinpoint accuracy, and can scramble. He'll be a servicable QB in the NFL or a GREAT back up option.

I agree that the SEC is the toughest conference in the country, but the Big XII isn't that far behind. In fact, even though the Big XII North is down (for the last couple of years), the Big XII as a whole still performed better than any other conference in bowl games this year. Especially when you consider that most of them were underdogs (Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Missouri).

By the way, I'm a Nebraska homer, and I still don't consider Nebraska back as a national power... yet.

Derris:
I don't think Nebraska should be viewed as a power, but their schedule next year and how they finished the season this year would lead me to believe they have a better shot at finishing the top ten than does Tennessee. I can see two teams for the SEC in the top ten, and I realize they had three teams finish in the top ten this year and are definitely one of the elite conferences, but four teams with two in the top five is laughable. The SEC didn't fair nearly as well as the ACC and Big 12 when it came to the Bowl Season.
Overall, I just see Nebraska having a better shot finishing 10-2 than Tennessee 11-1, and better than Florida making the National Title game.
If LSU didn't have all the tough road games, I'd bet on them to be the best SEC team by the time the year ends.
