Bauhaus and Gang of Four would have been alone enough justification for me to go to coachella this year had I not had family commitments 3000 miles away that weekend. And honestly I think I would have done just that, rented a room in the area and made my way to the venue for Bauhaus and run away then gone back the next day for Gang of 4 and done the same....would have gladly paid $300-400 to see those 2 bands alone though so I'm well on board the bauhaus fanclub.

I have this Daniel Ash album and it's decent. It's kind of mellow, it sounds somewhere in between L&R's Earth Sun Moon and their self titled one.

I like Coldplay all right but for them to come on after Bauhaus is a fucking joke and I would of left!

You forgot Arcade Fire Billy. ;)

edit: At least last year the headliners were the Cure and Radiohead. You can’t really seriously argue their greatness.

I was mostly kidding but I've never gone to coachella because adding the driving and dividing the number of bands I cared to see by the total price never made it compelling to me. I would have paid the price alone to seen Gang of 4 and Bauhaus. Might have stuck around to see Spoon and New Order if they were convenient, I'm really not a big fan of the mass multi stage all day shows though as its usually a lot of effort to see a few bands that you care about that will usually be touring on their own and playing longer set times. Not true for Bauhaus or Gang of Four (at least in the LA area that I know of) :(

The whole reason I said Arcade Fire is because I don’t think, knowing your taste, you care for them. I on the other hand still think it’s the best album from last year and if you have read the reviews people were blown away yet again by them live at Coachella.

np: Pixies - Come On Pilgrim

I've heard great things about Arcade Fire. I'm not automatically against "buzz" bands. Fact that David Byrne and David Bowie were both big fans of Arcade Fire were a big plus to me...I just haven't been overly impressed with the mp3 samples I've heard. I've asked a couple of people if maybe there were a "grower" type band cause I've been intringued by reviews.

I guess I'm waiting to see if people still care about them in a few years and then I'll take a flyer on them if so.

I don’t think hearing individual songs do this band justice. I haven’t really heard anyone else say this but for me the way to appreciate Funeral is by listening to the whole album from beginning to end. Last year I was struggling with the best album and I finally listen to it. On the sixth listen it floored me and made me realize that they are something very special. Apparently most people have realizes this through their live shows. Even if they never hit that again, Funeral is something special and in the 2000s most bands can’t claim that.

I loved Bauhaus way back in the day, and still have everything of theirs, but strangely don't listen as much as I used to. Watching Coldplay after a Bauhaus set would be similar to being prpositioned by your ugly cousin after a three day sex bender with Monica Bellucci.
