EX-actly...the fact is, it was good show, and the writing (mostly)was a cornerstone to what made it good. I'll shed any cred right now by saying: I LOVED ALLY McBEAL THE FIRST SEASON
Same shit: I am the first to admit that there may actually be good shows on the networks, but I wouldn't know, b/c these days I don't even know what channels the networks are on. For example 24: never caught it.
Network Tv has been in decline ( in importance) since the advent of cable in the same way major label "big name" bands' sales have been in decline now for several years.
Who the f*ck doesn't have cable, and is the TV set that the crack heads who happen to be watching really a Nielson standard?

I do not have cable, and am proud of the fact. If I had it, pretty much all I would be is a lump attached to my sofa. Without it I am more compelled to do active stuff like play video games and waste away hours on meaage boards.

I traded cable in my budget for diapers. Not ones for me, for the kids.

NBC is in the worst way. They're not creative and will be the last to jump on the reality TV bandwagon... and it's costing them. Fear Factor is still a gameshow at heart and it's dead anyway. The Office, their one hit going on, is being taken off after April for Carrel to do movies. Law and Order is past its prime and is now going head to head with Lost, which means death. West Wing's been canceled.

They have nothing!!! This past year saw their worst ratings ever. Coughing up 5 Mil an actor for Friends doesn't seem so bad considering it's all they have. I wouldn't be surprised if something dire doesn't happen soon. As is NBC can't compete with ABC, Fox, or CBS... (I blame the fact they don't carry sports). All in all it looks bad for Scrubs, My Name Is Earl and Conan as there may not be a Network left if things don't improve.
