And I'm out, kids. Scotch is the only way to make experimental electronics and free jazz fun, and I've done it. Be well,

Yeah, I love bourbon, but just haven't aquired a taste for Scotch.

Give me gin over them all, though.

my ex was a big scotch man. he drank (and i'm not exaggerating) four to five bottles per week... on superbowl sunday in 2003, he drank 1.5 bottles from around 3pm until 1am. beat that, lightweights. haha...

i believe scotch is an acquired taste. when he and his cousin decided to start drinking that instead of pussy beer (i guess scotch makes you a man or something... i thought having a penis was proof enough of that), they sat down with a bottle and drank until they were both sick. few days later, did it again. now they both love it. laphroaig is their favorite, but the ex usually drank glenlivet or johnny red.

boys are so dumb sometimes.

i like makers mark myself.

That's good poison, right there.

I'm not a scotch guy. I'm hardly a liquor guy. Although tonight, when I was at my advisors house, and he a had a visiting Russian scholar arguing the merits of grain-based versus potato-based vodka, and we set up a single-blind taste test with all the grad students and faculty, it was AWESOME.

Beer, wine, and gin, but not neccessarily in that order. Tequila in the summertime.

Thanks all for keeping our economy afloat.

I can't drink whiskey because I'm too old to handle the hangovers now.

The last time I drank whiskey I ended up sleeping naked in a vomit soaked toilet cubical - with my head in the bowl - at Glasgow Central railway station.

Word. I'm also really happy with a bottle of Chivas.

The expensive Single Malts are great but I rarely, if ever drink them.

Single Malts are all fairly good, but I feel bad drinking a $50 1/5 in one sitting.

Plus, I am feeling Scotch and Soda more these days. And Cutty was good enough for dudes like Col. Geraci and David Hackworth to guzzle in the jungle, so its good enough for me.

My favourite is Lavardulin, which I've had but once.

Lavardulin is good. Ive always been the biggest supporter of Macallan 18 year. I havent had the pleasure of Macallan 25 year yet (I graduate in 4 months, maybe then), though.

And Glenfiddich has never done as much for me as Glenlivet.

The Macallan 18 is awesome - I have also had the 25 and it is also great. However, I'm not sure it's worth the extra dinero - the jump in price was fairly extreme if I remeber correctly.

Also, at the risk of being a snob - if you're going to drink high qual Scotch - drink it straight with just a drop of water - this brings out the bouquet (damn, that does sound pretentious :D )

Pretentious, but correct. I have had the 25 year, which at the time was probably closer to 30 or 32. Shit is insane, but I just don't roll like that.

Whirred. As I said, this is my sudden fave. I had it at a restaurant in Toronto called Pangaea just a couple weeks ago. Smokay.

Lagavulin is my favorite too. So smokey that you don't drink it so much as take a drag on it.
