I've never really not had it. Without the History Channel, Food TV, and A&E, there is no real reason for me to watch tv.

I have a cable modem. This also got us no cable signal. Our local company shuts it off at the pole. Then I got the basic lifeline tier for our cable so we could get local channels. Then I hooked up our antennae to the tv and it works, but it won't work for the tivo except the VHF channels for some reason. (No UHF works with the tivo when using the antennae) So we still use the lifeline cable for $10 a month and I am about to cancel that and just deal with the tivo on the 3 major networks. Maybe I can dust off the VCR for any recording I need to do on Fox, or for Everybody Hates Chris.

I don't miss cable at all because even if you only get hooked on CSI, there is always an episode on our dang tivo to watch.

I need MSNBC, HBO and Sports.

I mainly watch news and documentaries though.

TiVo helps a lot in this regard. It's cool to record shows/movies that you'd normally not have the time to watch, and then you can do a marathon-viewing on a weekend.

btw, I've been watching Chaplin movies lately. Watched and enjoyed "The Gold Rush" and was haunted by "Limelight." Very sad story!

On Demand is the king too. Greatest invention in a long time.

Hate on Comcast all you want but I'll take Cable Modem over DSL and Cable TV over satellite any day of the week.

Straight antenna, baby.

I would waste hours upon hours watching shit that was merely acceptable if I had cable. I like the idea of knowing there is absolutely nothing worthwhile on and keeping the TV off. More music on. Now with a kid, that's even more important to me.

Last time I was at my parents, I watched the history of pudding on the food network. It was good enough, but hardly necessary. They, like the in-laws, have the TV on around the clock tuned to nothing in particular.

Cable for me - I only watch 2 (sometimes 3) shows that air on "regular TV."

I have basic cable. The only thing I sort of miss is HBO.

I used to have a black box which was cool when it would actually work.

No cable here. oh ya...I didn't have cable before I can over here either. I didn't even have phone service, used my cell, or internet access at my apartment back in Phoenix.

Same here. Plus I get the Chicago broadcast of Comcast Sportsnet. I do have cable internet connection, though.

You guys know that the NFL network is getting about 8-9 prime NFL games next year and that Comcast will more than likely fold under the NFL's pressure and pick up the NFL Network as part of extended basic cable. YAYUH!

Basically comcast subscribers will have as part of their package next season.

I would shoot myself without cable. I'd starve without the ability to watch Family Guy reruns, Real World crap, HistoryDiscover channel, UGA footbal, HBO originals, and ESPN/Foxsports. Plus, I need my TNT garbage Sunday Point Break/Roadhouse fix occasionally.
