something like, "wow, best show ever . . .these guys are the new Grateful Dead."

The fact that you have a record of what you said about the show is awesome.

Man. There are some bad ones here.

Aaron, I had no idea you saw Richard Marx. I don't know if that's embarrasing or really awesome.

I have seen Dave Matthews 3 times.

I saw Korn when they toured for their first album. Although it may cause shame now, it was actually a really fun show. The Pharcyde opened for them. They made fun of the crowd because people tried to mosh to their music.

I have seen creed twice--but the first time was because The Toadies opened, whom I liked at the time. DOn't ask me why.

Some of you may remember but the most embarrassing for me was a show that I didn't even go to. However, I almost and seriously considered going to see YANNI in order to try and woo some girl.

Of shows I've gone to voluntary, not just stuff I've caught at festivals and random places:

Sugar Ray/Everlast - I went my freshman year of college, mainly for something to do and to get to know some of the other people who were going. 2 Skinny Jays opened, and were fun, but we missed all but their last few songs.

That's awesome.

Def Leppard was with friggin' Europe when they hit Phoenix on that tour. "It's the final countdown!"

I'll have to dig out my tickets, but I seem to recall having seen Iron Maiden with Anthrax and White Lion, of all damn bands.

This one is going to hurt.

Back in the late 80's I saw these three on the SAME tour....:

White Snake
Great White
White Lion

The highlight of this show was when David Coverdale of WS said, "Dont be shy, don't be silly, put a whitesnake on your willy"... the girls seemed to like it.

I also saw in those years....

AC/DC <---Hated this...longest 2 hours of my life. Went with friend.
Yngwie Malmsteen
Europe...... "its the final countdown....do doo doo, dooo do ddoo"
Triumph
Dio w/ Accept

Thread Winner HERE:

Whitney Houston - St. Paul Riverfest 1985?

close second:

Mr. Mister - St. Paul Riverfest 1987?

Obviously, I am unsure of the dates, but it was sometime in the 80's. Yes, I have an older sister.

This is the best story yet. You have to recall the name of this tour...

Hmm, let's see, I saw Corey Hart ("Sunglasses at Night") for free back in 87 or so. Oh, and then there was the time my company gave some of the folks free suite tickets to (gulp) Brooks and Dunn and Reba McEntyre. Other than that, there are no embarrassing concerts in my repertoire! ;)

edit: oh, and then there was System of a Down last year, but that was more for my husband than for me.
edit 2: oh, and then there was that time my parents took me to see Kenny Rogers.... :|

I think it was the "Various Aggressive White Animals Tour," wasn't it?

Easily Styx, Montrose, and Black Oak Arkansas on the same bill somewhere around '76.

Or maybe Supertramp on their Crime Of The Century tour.

Or maybe Bowie on his Let's Dance tour with Peter Gabriel and the Tubes. Thank gawd I was on acid for that one.

i also have some hilarious pontificating on Live being the best live band ever. (it was my first club show.)

I'm not really embarassed by it, by any of the concerts I've been to really. I had to think of the question as "What would others view as embarassing" to answer.

winner.

my first concert was the bangles/new kids on the block. (dude, i was like 10 so shut it)

when i was 14, i won tickets off a radio station to see montell jordan/tlc/boyz II men. i thought i was pretty damn awesome.

and towards the beginning of the year, i had to see 311 due to the fact they were playing at a honda event for my old job. i liked a few of their older songs, but good lord, that shit was hell.

I too went to a Color Me Badd show when I was in like 7th or 8th grade with my sisters. It was at the Nebraska State Fair, and I think they played with some group or people who had done some crap for Disney or the Mickey Mouse Club, no one as fascinating as Britney or those people.

That is probably the show I am most embarassed to discuss. I have seen some pretty crappy or funny shows at work. Ludacris with David Banner and either Lil Flip or someone else like him played a show here two to three years ago. The performers were decent, but the skanks in the audience wearing trashy spandex dresses and spiked heels looked like they came from an early 90's hip hop video. It was freaking cold outside and a General Admission show, so these girls were freezing and complaining about how their feet hurt the whole time.

Grand Funk Railroad and Joan Jett when they played free shows at the State Fair were equally pathetic, but a good time to get drunk.

I went to high school with Corey Hart.

Most embarrasing concert...I don't know, maybe

Bachman Turner Overdrive

Damn, I forgot about mentioning Great White, White Lion and Firehouse. I helped a friend to sound for each of these bands when they played a crappy white trash ballroom outside Norfolk, NE. We drank for free and made fun of all the people who were excited about the shows.

Could be Elton John, but in '75 he did have some semblance of cool.
