Everything is Illuminated has the potential to be my favorite this year. Although, I should probably see it first.

Definitely watch Karate Kid. Don't bother with the sequels. Especially the one with the horse-mouthed Hilary Swank in it.

If you don't like Withnail And I you're beyond help. Stick with superhero flicks.

Tron - the premier movie about being lasered into a computer
Everything Is Illuminated - good, but not as mindblowing as it's going for, and it didn't make me cry like it wanted to.
The City Of Lost Children - pretty sweet
Legend - UNICORNS (right?)
The Karate Kid - probably not worth seeing as an adult
Boogie Nights - very good, but i don't understand its classic status

2046 is great. but i recommend that you shouldnt watch it unless you've seen one or two of his (wong kar-wai) other movies first, get a feel. chungking express (which is pbly my fav movie of all time) is the best place to start. either way, you gotta watch in the mood for love beforehand (otherwise it just wouldnt have the same impact/ make much sense even). but yeah, great movie. i think he’s the most romantic movie maker of our time.

Stranger Than Paradis - very good, but not my favorite Jarmusch. I like Down by Law and Mystery Train better.

Tron - awesome, silly classic. The special effects rock.

The City Of Lost Children - I like this more in theory than in practice. It's a great looking flick with lot's of really cool shit in it, but it didn't really connect with me. On the other hand, I fucking love Delicatessen, an earlier movie made by the same creators with a lot of the same actors. I don't think it's out on DVD, though.

Legend - Isn't this that Tom Cruise fantasy movie? Are you planning on getting really stoned sometime soon?

The Karate Kid - I guess you should see this. Wait for it to come on TV or something.

Boogie Nights - great movie.

That's the one where you can see Tim Curry's devil horns wobble and shake every time he moves. Pretty funny.

Whoa, Tim Curry was the devil in that?

I might have to watch that again.

Spun - sucked.
Legend - cheesy, but that devil character scared the shit out of me as a kid.
The Karate Kid- cute at the time, but probably very dated and cheesy now.
Boogie Nights - enjoyed it immensely.

As much as I try, British cinema doesn't do it for me.

With the exception of Holy Grail and the show The Office.

So I'll post my thoughts as I work through them.

Class Of Nuke 'Em High
As a film, 3 out of 10. As a Troma film, 7 out of 10. All the nudity, violence, and radiation I've come to know and love from Troma. But not quite as much charm as Toxie.

Stranger Than Paradise
Maybe it was just my mood but I ended up switching off after the first half hour. I don't know if I just wasn't in the mood for a black and white talker picture or what. I had watched Clerks the previous afternoon. Maybe I met my day's quota, already. Anyway, I struck it off the list and replaced it with Down By Law. The only other Jarmusch film I've watched was Night On Earth and I turned that off halfway through too.

Tron
I thought this was an ingenious idea for a story and the effects were actually pretty cool. It reminded me a lot of the show Reboot.

And that's all for now.

City of Lost Children was fucking amazing the first time I saw it and sorta eh the second. Mood matters.

I loved Reboot. And yes, there are definite similarities. Since Reboot came after, I would have to presume they were influenced by Tron. It's kind of hard not to be influenced by Tron. I think there was even an episode with the Tron bikes.

Everything Is Illuminated
Really good. I've had a different book by J.S. Foer on my reading list for a while but haven't got around to it yet. I haven't seen Elijah in anything other than Eternal Sunshine but he was quite good in this.

Nothing I can specifically think to say about it other than it was decent and worth checking out. I'm not a professional critic by any means.

You (and everyone else) should check out a movie called Me and You and Everyone We Know that came out last year (I think). I just watched it Friday night, and I liked it a lot.

I don't know what to compare it to other than two movies that I didn't really like: I Heart Huckabees and Happiness. Kinda light and aimless like Huckabees, but with a focus on sexual development/frustration/repression like Happiness but without all the molo shit. The characters all seem crazy (except the older son character) and wax philosophical in really inappropriate, uncomfortable situations. It's really funny. Thought about starting a thread on it, but I figured it'd die pretty quick so…

Already seen it. 8)

My friend recommended it to me. And it was actually available on the movies on demand site. I did like it but it felt like it was missing something. I don't know what. Maybe an ending? It felt like part of a movie. A good part, but I was left going "okay, where's the rest?"

I liked this and Huckabees. Still haven't seen Happiness, but it's been on my list since I saw Storytelling. I get the impression I'll probably like it, though find it a tad unnerving, much like Storytelling.

Awesome. Glad I wasn't the only one who thought of this.

Kiss Kiss (Bang Bang)

Well, it wasn't until the movie was over and I went to read about it on IMDB that I realised I watched the wrong one.

The 2005 film with Angela Lindvall is on my viewing list, but I ended up watching an entirely different film from 2000.

On the plus side, the movie I watched was great. It had the Stuart Murdoch guy from Dogville in it and it was actually really good. There's very little info about in on the imdb site so I'm surprised I was able to find it for download so easily. Especially since I didn't mean to.
