[But let's face it when you're a contractor, you often don't get paid when you expect to be and you usually are shooting yourself in the foot if you walk out and leave the client in a bad position, particularly if the relationship is one you value for the long term.
Another valuable business lesson:
Everybody knows somebody.
Very true. I have a client from when I used to freelance who hasn't paid me from last october. I'm not freelancing anymore, am very busy, and I'm still giving up a weekend soon to them. Why? (1) Because I know being on good terms and helping them by finishing up some stuff I never got to is going to make them happy and someday the relationship might help me. (2) The good faith and extra effort on my part will make it more likely not less likely that they will cough up the other dough they already owe me.
The "You've wronged me, thus f you" attitude from a lot of people here won't get you very far in this world. I'm not talking about Ayah, but the advice givers. I often think people here are too quick to give advice about situations they know nothing about. I feel for Ayah. Freelancing can really suck at times. Collecting can be a breeze but its often a pain in the ass and it seems like you're always either busy as hell or have nothing to do at all.
