Strange how someone as obviously brilliant as you has never managed to chalk up a single interesting post.

I sometimes wonder about that too. When I'm done with a round of posting I sometimes browse some people's contributions to the day to see what I could have done better, how I could have been more interesting. But I just never quite get the grasp of good posting. Maybe one day...

'tis the nature of youth to think that you are somehow more enlightened than everybody. Some year you will realize that you sound pretentious and annoying, like here and the American Idol thread.

I think I realize that I sound pretentious. Annoying...yeah I guess if you don't like American Idol you would find that annoying. I think you're right though...that's one of the funny things about growing up. You realize more idiotic things about yourself every day.

After a lot of verbal jousting, I have come to like you, and I think you actually do post some things that are interesting, add to the dialogue, so to speak, but c'mon... LIARS?!?!! ;)

i'm just trying to say that it would take a serious effort for me to like something that is so...like this, i guess. It's just not out there enough for me. Liars to Deadstring is kind of an extreme but that's the extremity that I'm trying to make clear.

I guess we just come at things differently. I think you mentioned that you weren'ta huge fan of Being There-era Wilco as opposed to their latter work, and that is the time I like them best. This album just has a great bleary/world weary country style vibe to it that speaks to me..I have described this album as "How, in my head, I have always wanted Ryan Adams to sound"

Different strokes for different folks.

wow. when did i say that? being there and yhf basically joust for my favorite wilco record and being there usually wins. i know what you're talking about i think...songs like "monday" and "forget the flowers" are some of my favorites of theirs. i'll have to give this another spin from that sort of a perspective. i only gave it one shot and gave up on it pretty quickly.

Oh, maybe I confused you with someone else..well, if you like that, I think you might dig Deadstring. really "loose" vibe and very Exile-ish in a good way. Give it another shot.

I know this is going to make many of you go "whaaaaa????!!!!!" but i've never heard exile so that really doesn't mean anything to me.

that's what allmusic said about exile. is that kind of similar to what you this album might represent? doesn't try anything new (unlike my precious liars  ) but is still fucking cool?

I mean, in a perfect world it would be everybody's. But then I probably wouldn't like it because it was too popular or something pretentious like that.

Why don't you go and listen to the album and tell us what you think rather than reading allmusic's take on it.

Let's just say it's pretty much what Wilco was trying for on Being There.

because i don't know where i can buy it in aix-en-provence and you haven't offered up a ysi. so i figured that i might as well consult something that is generally fairly right, rathering than continuing to know nothing about it.

I just wanted to add that I found out these guys are playing the local blues bar on June 20th after they play in Omaha, so I'm going to hit this show up if I have cash left over after the Free Bright Eyes gig in Omaha.

They're playing the Alexander City Jazz Fest June 10...trying to get da hookup.
