I'll third this one. Crazy record. Thanks Stu!

It'll make my top 15, maybe top 10.

Great band, but, I really haven't liked much of what they have done since 2002's Lost In Revelry.

I think this album is being overlooked because it’s import only but is stunning. The only other person who brought it up, that I remember, has been Davey.

Chuck D/B8551ST - #?
BeeOK- #5 (subject to change)
Fast'n'Bulbous - #9

I agree, I think this will make my top 10, possibly breaking into the top 5

i'm surprised that this isn't getting MORE acclaim, as it seems tailor made for it. some of those songs are destined for some WB show and their ensuing success will be well-deserved.

Yeah, it's great. Listening to it lately, I was surprised at how well it stands up. I just have Lama Rabi Rabi, Snuffbox Immanence, and this one, but I think the new one may be my favorite. It's definitely very close to Snuffbox in terms of quality.

My nomination:

The Double - Palm Fronds

Great little record that will be in or near my top 10.

Totally agree with the Ike Reilly and Marah albums, although both of 'em created a little discussion on either CMJ or Obner. These two, however, remain sadly and unjustly neglected:

i like the earlies and the dios albums a lot. probably not top 20...but still enjoy them.

my nomination for underappreciated album is the polyphonic spree.together we're heavy. i don't remember this album getting a lot of love here or much discussion about it at all. it's looking like it will just miss my top 20, but i still love this album and this band.

I need to get this!!! Maybe because I also grew up near Hawthorne, so much love for the locals... imho lots of good stuff to come out of LA this year yeah?

Here's some of the albums I dig in '04 that I haven't heard much about:
Controller.Controller- History

Other locals:
Autolux- Future Perfect

Midnight Movies- s/t

I don't think it was released in the states until this fall. When I asked about it over the summer they told me it wasn't released yet.

I'll add votes to The Legends and The Earlies -- both really great records that have passed under the radar somehow.

I'll also add the Duke Spirit.

They've had some love from the British press... but not enough over on this continent. I'm sorry to say it but I wish PJ Harvey's latest had been this good.

Cosmic Rough Riders - Too Close to See Far

While waiting for a new Teenage Fanclub, this album is a fine substitute. Jammed packed with harmonies. I knew of them and the critical acclaim the other albums got but this is my first CRR album and me likes. One misstep tough: Ugliest. Artwork. Ever.

i've been trying to get my friends into this and it's not working. take a little bit of radiohead, dj shadow, aphex twin, and a song called 'noam chomsky spring break 2002.' but nobody has heard of it, which is a damn shame.
