Im with Dalen on this one- the fact that you remembered all that means you had more in you.. you could have turned it up to 11, so to speak.. but instead, you went with remembering your escapades instead of relying on the memories (and cameras) of others...

I feel that my mongering speaks for itself. Even on the night in college when I got alcohol poisoning, I didn't have more than a gray-out, I can remember almost every miserable minute of it. Having my camera help me piece all of sxsw together was pretty crucial, though.

well ok, on that i can relate. when your friends say "dude, you did", and your reply is "what?"....and they then just give you a blank stare.

now that's a night out.

hell yeah, i love those moments... i'm queen of those. my friends will tell me the next day, "damn you were funny last night when you did blahblahblah" and i stare at them like "i did WHAT?!"

Colin went into his week of debauchery with intent - he was conscious enough to function and he still made the decision to GO FURTHER. That is the hallmark of true mongerment - whereas a blackout erases the intent - and is, therefore, sorta the cowardly, blameless way to get yer monger on.

IMO, true mongering has nothing to do with blacking out. It has more to do with throwing your life into a fucking worldwind, and barely coming out of it. So much so that you question your own existence afterwards.

Not taking away from Colin's awesome story, just have a different opinion on really "pushing the limits".

Hey all, I'm swiateck's friend... haven't posted here much.

But I feel compelled to after reading this, seeing the pics, and talking to swia... oh, fuck this. Chad.

See, he and I went to our first SXSW in '02, and we had a blast, and we thought we had reached the mountaintop when we crashed the VividVideo party. Free booze, food, and porn stars. We literally didn't know what to do with ourselves.

But now I see the goal of SXSW isn't to reach the mountaintop. The goal is to take the nastiest, rockiest, dirtiest trip to hell and back that you can possibly fathom. I applaud this.

In other words: I'm in for '07.
