I'm curious about the new one, but their early stuff really EARNED the term twee. Pretty dreadful.

The last two are not twee at all, in my opinion. I still don't know if The Life Pursuit would appeal to you though. I think it has a 70s AM pop kind of feel.

Looks like I've got my work cut out for me, but it's always fun to delve into an artist's back catalog like this.

I'll throw out a vote for "If your Feeling Sinister" which is just weird enough to be, yes, mongerous. Throw on "stars of track and field" and you'll see what I mean. Never really got into 'em much beyond that, except for that Books EP..and Bloor is constantly pushing the new one on me, though I haven't spun it yet.

Thumbs-up from Bloor AND me should be enough to remedy that, you lumbering oaf.

My favorite is 'Boy with the Arab Strap',
but I think that's only because it was my first.

I still haven't heard their new one...if you're feeling generous. :)

I remember listening to Sinister once or twice and not really liking it, but I downloaded TLP a few weeks ago for the hell of it, and I really dig it. Looks like I'll have to delve into their back catalog as well.

I bought Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant a long time ago when it came out. I think I liked 3 songs from it. I kind of lost interest in them after that. But that song on bg13's mix has piqued my interest in them again.

I actually have it, just haven't bothered to listen to it.

After all this, I shall make the effort. Probably on my friday drive.

It has been remarked.

The Boy with the Arab Strap has always impressed me more. 'It Could Have Been A Brilliant Career' is one of their best songs. I am going to listen to Sinister today to see what I've been missing that everybody else seems to hear.

funny story to me

last night at nude drawing addicts weekly meeting
i had brought that clap your hands say yeah! album
(i try to bring stuff that old people won't hate)

a seventy(not an estimate) year old woman said
"this sounds kind of like that belle and sebastian"

just kind of suprised
at how popular this group is
even the 70 year olds know it

...
on a side note
i dont really get excited about the band myself

i should throw in the following details
about nude drawing co-op last night
...
it was VERY surreal

the model was barely legal

a friend of mine dated her when she wasn't
...
and him being 25 ...that bothered me
if her parents found out, then he's a sex offender
so why wouldn't you just wait a year?

i admit that she's attractive
but still
there's other mercury poisoned fish in the mississippi

anyways...
19 times out of 20 its a total stranger modelling
i had no idea this girl had signed up
and i showed up
after a couple beers and a pinchy

and this 70 year old
is name dropping belle and sebastian

then i was talking to the group organizer
about the stupidest bumper sticker i just saw
"visualize world peace"

after co-op the model got into the same fucking car
normally i don't give a shit about bumper stickers
and this one ive probably seen a thousand times
for some reason i decided to go off about it

these posts just keep getting better and now with accompanying art.

i love bumper stickers. one of the most amusing things about living in nashville is seeing all the ridiculous redneck/NRA ones all over the place that would just never fly in new york.

Certainly doesn't surprise me that a 70 yr old woman would know Belle and Sebastian. Foppish easy listening? Seems that's the audience they're going for, with a little fall-out expected among the yearning, zoloft-becalmed 20-something indie set.

oh yea
her other bumper sticker was the
"if you can't trust me with a choice, how can you trust me with a baby?"

even though i would consider myself
in favor of ideas like "world peace"
and "a woman's right to choose"
...
i think both bumper stickers probably
hurt "the cause" more than they help

but the laughs they bring double the value of the mid-80's pontiac 6000
