Cotton,

File for an extension, make some money in Vegas, and pay the IRS with money won from gambling that you'll never have to report (even though they ask you to... what a joke).

I owed a single $, $1, to those fuckers. This is the first year I haven't gotten a return.

I've never had to pay. I think whenever I did my W-4's, I put in for them to take the most amount out so that's probably why.

Same here. It's the only financially stupid thing I do--giving the government a 0% loan for a year. I rationalize it a forced savings, since we'd piss the money away on a bi-weekly basis otherwise.

but if you think about it, you'd have more money throughout the year, instead of just getting a check once a year.

Me too, and with work related write offs, I got a pretty penny this year.
And paid off almost my entire CC balance.
I am with Billz on this one...I piss away most of my money anyway, I may as well have the "forced savings"

And cotton -- MAIL BOMB!!

all the times i paid, were when i was financially stable and could afford to pay. when i actually get money back, its always during a time in my life when i'm in a state of financial crap living paycheck to paycheck. from my experience, paying just means i can afford to pay it.

I do the same thing as shiv and Billz. Yeah, I wish I could figure out how to get it set up so I get more money during the year and still get a refund, but I'm not interested in doing the math (says the Georgia Tech grad). ;)
