Apparently, a fan was arrested at the Giants-DBacks game last night for throwing some sort of tube at Bonds.

BB apparently broke the law through both his possession/use of steroids and perjury. But is there evidence he was using AFTER roids were declared a banned substance by MLB?

As for ruining the game, according to the book he was reacting to others who made a mockery of it (and him by making his once best in the game numbers seem ho hum). If McGwire and Sosa hadn't roided up and become so celebrated by both the fans and MLB, BB probably never starts. Do y'all blame McGwire as much? If not, why not?

Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, Giambi, Caminiti, Canseco, Palmeiro and the rest of 'em that used roids are all equally guilty of assholism.

I don't mean to defend Bonds, but the fact that almost ALL of the media coverage of steroid use is focused on him (as well as most of the fan backlash), is a tad ridiculous. Just because he dislikes reporters (and most of everyone else) and is not a likeable person doesn't mean that he is more of an offender than McGwire was. I blame McGwire (and Selig) more.

Bonds is getting the attention because he's about to become the all-time MLB home run king. This attention and scorn *should* have been on Mac and Sosa when they were chasing 61.

Bonds also brings a lot of this scorn on himself by being such a public douchebag.

If you're going to be a public douchebag, you damned well better keep your nose clean--a la T.O. Dude's a douchebag, but as far as I can tell, plays the game honestly and keeps his off-field antics to a minimum. Compare that to Randy Moss, who is a douchebag, but compounds it by being a thug, or all of these stupid baseball players who have been cheating for so long.

McGwire isn't as relevant anymore. He doesn't hold the record and he's done. While I'm sure Sosa is guilty, there is no evidence that I've heard against him. Bonds was always a better player than those two anyway so it only stands to reason that he'll be the lighting rod. Not to mention he's about to break one of baseball's biggest records. I've always thought the media was kinder to Bonds then they should have been until recently. Even now, there is a TON of apologist and defenders out there.

Part of it is because of his relationship with reporters, and part of it is because he's the highest profile example, not only in his transformed body, but also in the records he's broken or quickly approaching.

Also, speaking of his relationship with reporters, what about the calculated PR moves by Bonds this season? Dressing up like Paula Abdul to parade in front of cameras? Mr. Privacy has his own reality show?

McGwire, Sosa, Palmeiro, Canseco, all these guys are gone. Giambi is still around, but he's not approaching Ruth/Aaron right now. That's not the entire reason, but it certainly has a lot to do with it.

Giambi also apologized for something. Although he couldn't say what it was.

It's definitely not a trend that we want to continue. I know he's going through a lot. First and foremost, he's a human being...a human being who's done an obscene amount of steroids.

Giants trainer Conte subpoenaed to testify in probe
Associated Press

SAN FRANCISCO -- The head athletic trainer for the San Francisco Giants was told to appear before a federal grand jury investigating whether Barry Bonds lied about his connection to the BALCO steroids scandal.

Stan Conte, who is not related to Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative owner Victor Conte, was subpoenaed to appear in a San Francisco federal courtroom April 27, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Tuesday, citing three anonymous sources familiar with the investigation.

Well that's an unfortunate last name.
