If you like any form of metal or hard rock, these guys are worth a shot. In my top 5 bands ever. Most people like AEnima the most, but I'm a Lateralus guy. You really can't go wrong with the former as a starting point, though.

I like Lateralus the most too. My brother became a Tool fan shortly after I did and he borrowed my pre-Lateralus CDs so much that I just let him keep them. His favorite genre is metal so I figured that he would probably get more enjoyment out of them anyway.

By the way, I was able to pick up 10,000 Days on Friday and it has some of the most bizarre packaging I've ever seen for a music CD.

I finally figured out how to get them to work. You have to play around a bit with how far away to put your eyes and whatnot, but the 3-D is amazing. I am totally fascinated.

I bought this today and listened to it for the first time. I'm not sure what to think. The packaging is freakin' awesome, though. I'll have to go through and read the lyrics as well on the second listen.

Heard it three times today. WAAAAAAYYYYY better than Lateralus, which has great moments but is very spotty as an album. The only let down was the last track, which is just some ambient-ish noises. I wouldn't complain if it were a hidden track, but it's not, so I'm picking on it.

Is this album intentionally supposed to be a "sequel" or "follow-up" to Lateralus? "Vicarious" begins with some stuff that sounds just like "Schism" and the artwork in general is in the same vein as Lateralus' was. Not to mention the themes - all the stuff about Maynard's mom here, stuff about doctors and patients on Lateralus, etc.

Looking forward to it, D. Thanks.

Yeah, the eye artwork is ever present on the last two. Haven't taken in enough lyrics, but the things that really resonate with me in Lateralus (all-time top 25, seriously) was the mysticism on the title track, Parabol/Parabola, the Grudge, and Reflection. I'm hearing a bit of that in "Vicarious" and the "Wings" tracks. Still assimilating.

I picked up the album yesterday and damn it sounds good coming out of a proper stereo. I'm going to have to check out some of their other albums now.
