I didn't know of Elliott Smith right off. So, when I heard a few songs that I liked from soundtracks and such, I just bought the cds I could find when I went and bought cd's. Figure 8 wasn't my first purchase, but for some reason, the songs were more accessible to me at first. There are some guitar solos on that album that are so simple but they're so great. Like on Pretty Mary K. Man, it just kills me. It's like this guitar fill and I used to rewind the song over and over again just to hear it. It like goes from this major to minor chord and it just hit me. There are other examples too, but that is the most vivid that makes me rank it that high.

S/T is only as high up on the list as it is because of the one song I really like from that albume "Southern Belle". That song is my favorite elliott smith song and that will most likely never change.

If any of you have never listened to that song with a good pair of headphones then I seriously suggest it. Hearing the guitar parts is fucking amazing.
